September 24, 201312 yr Author Note that all you need to get all those features is a Plus license -- all Pro adds is Active Directory support and support for a lot more drives. By the way, the 2-pack is a much better deal -- and provides a spare license key if you should ever need it (perhaps for a backup server as the volume of your data grows). You don't even have to buy another flash drive now -- you can do that whenever you want and then send in the GUID for your 2nd key. I've read in a couple threads that it's best to buy the combo pack, so that was my plan. I was under the impression it allowed a backup of the flash drive data so you could use it in case of flash drive failure. I have an extra flash drive here to back up the flash drive in the server. Am I mis-understanding what the back up license is for? lol.... If it's for a complete backup server I won't be doing that, ever. I'd build a new server before I build a backup.
September 24, 201312 yr You can easily back up your flash drive contents by simply copying them across the network. But a license key is tied to a specific flash drive -- so if you did, for example, have a flash drive fail, you'd need to have a new key for the replacement drive. If you buy a 2-pack, you can already have that key ... so you could simply boot with the 2nd flash drive and be back online. But if you didn't have a spare flash drive now to get a key for, you could buy the 2-pack ... and provide the GUI ID later when you did get the 2nd drive. If you've already got two flash drives, then I'd go ahead and get keys for both.
September 24, 201312 yr Are you sure that you are putting this address into Windows Explorer rather than Internet Explorer.
September 29, 201312 yr Author I have not changed the output from the default settings yet. Sometimes the server does not show up under my network. Is there a reason for this?
September 29, 201312 yr It has to do with the current browse master settings. Can you still access it okay by typing the address?
September 29, 201312 yr Author It has to do with the current browse master settings. Can you still access it okay by typing the address? Yes, certainly. The browse master settings must in Windows? It's very odd. Nothing is showing up, and has for the last 24 hours, under my network in the explorer or libraries windows.
September 30, 201312 yr You can try making UnRAID the local browse master and see if that helps. Go to the SMB settings on the Settings page and change it there; then reboot the server.
