cbr600ds2
Ok so I realize I'm on an older version of Unraid and quite possibly the old version of preclear. Precleared the drive via the actual console everything seemed hunky dory except it went super fast for a 2TB. Like it took 30 mins. When I tried adding it the first time it showed up just fine but it said it wasn't precleared and unraid would have to do it. Again, fine. So I let it run. Now this is what's coming up and I can't get it to add. Ideas? Did I just brick the HD? basically the thing comes up as sdg 0 now. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7Shd-boOv0WWE5ZeUU5VTc3TEk/view?usp=sharing Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
Yup. Just used the directions to upgrade to the newest stable version of 5.0.whatever and now I can't even pull up the webgui. Thoughts? Quote Link to comment

THe weird thing is it's a forced network address that I had been using 192.168.1.181 so I figured it would never change. Quote Link to comment

trurl
Your syslog doesn't indicate successful DHCP. Check network connections. What is the IP address of your PC? What is the IP address of your unRAID? Do you have a monitor and keyboard? From console what do you get with ifconfig Also, Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet kernel: FAT-fs (sda1): Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be corrupt. Please run fsck. Put your flash in your PC and let it checkdisk. And, Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Installing system plugins Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: installing plugin: webGui-latest Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): /boot/plugins/webGui-latest.plg:1: parser error : Document is empty in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13 Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13 Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): ^ in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13 Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): /boot/plugins/webGui-latest.plg:1: parser error : Start tag expected, '<' not found in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13 Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13 Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): ^ in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13 Feb 18 09:33:00 Skynet logger: xml parse error Possibly another indication of a flash corruption. cbr600ds2
Thanks for helpiong TRURL - This is what I gots. Should I still do chkdsk on the flash? https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7Shd-boOv0WNW00TnJ6aXVvbk0/view?usp=sharing and https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7Shd-boOv0WMHZwZ3dWU1NnbUU/view?usp=sharing Quote Link to comment
trurl
Your first screenshot is showing that unRAID does not have an IP address. Try checking ethernet plugs, changing ports, changing cables, etc. Your second screenshot shows that webGui-latest.plg is a zero byte file. Could be due to flash corruption, or maybe just a bad download. Won't hurt to do checkdisk, but might not help either. Is your PC Windows? What do you get from the command prompt with ipconfig Quote Link to comment

cbr600ds2
YES! Ok. back to the main menu....What should I do now? Should I add the disk to the array and let the system handle the clearing? Quote Link to comment
trurl
Your syslog indicated you are on 5.0.6, so that is the latest stable version. I think I would go ahead and checkdisk the flash, make sure I had the latest preclear, and try preclear again. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
Ok...I already did all that when I had it turned off. Thanks for all the help. If it doesn't preclear I'm going to re-open this thread up. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
Ok so I'm getting it again. It's like it finished super quick (like it didn't really preclear) and says that no smart attributes are failing...Do I need to change the jumpers? (I didn't think so) Is there something wrong with the drive? Now it's not recognizing the drive. Quote Link to comment
trurl
Preclear writes log files to your flash drive. Have you looked at those? Post them if you want others to look. Quote Link to comment

trurl
Not sure. Have you checked the cables? Maybe try a different SATA port. Quote Link to comment
itimpi
Could there be an insufficient power issue that means the drive can drop off-line? Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
I'll try a different slot. I'm not thinking it's a power issue because I've already got one HD on that card. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
I'll try a different slot. I'm not thinking it's a power issue because I've already got one HD on that card. Huh? What model PSU? Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
TX 750 corsair....The only reason why I wasn't thinking power is because there are a few HD"s on each card already... Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
The PSU should be fine. I'm not sure what the (SATA?) cards have to do with power. Check the disk cabling. Make sure that other connections are not disturbed in the process. I make a habit of pressing on all of the non-locking connectors before closing the case. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
Yeah...I'm going to check all the cabling tomorrow- I'll let you know. It's weird because I was on a couple different slots. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
Yup. I'm going to say it's the HD. Moved it all around, changed the break out cable to different locations. Quote Link to comment
