upgrading from 5.0.5 to 6.0?

Featured Replies

I just came to the site for the first time in a while and saw that 6.0 is out.  I am wonderign what the biggest differences are from 5.0.5 to 6.0 and if I should upgrade.  My hardware is a lime-tech MD-1200.  I am guessing it is not powerful enough to handle some of the new features of 6.0 right?

I don't know what the specs are of that server, but these are good reads to learn about v6:

By and large the biggest differences between v5 and v6 would be:

64 bit

Ability to run docker containers

Native ability to run virtual machines

Support file systems other than ReiserFS (namely, XFS and BTRFS)

Unless you want to run a VM or docker application stick with 5.0.6. If you are having specific performance problems with RFS then XFS may be helpful.  If you don't know what any of this means then stick with 5.0.6 until 6.0.1 is released.
