"Parity has not been checked yet" ---What's it mean?

Featured Replies

I had a power outage this evening while I wasn't at home.  As far as I know, my server did a clean shutdown via UPS, but when I look at my main screen, it says "Parity has not been checked yet" but all my drives (parity included) are green.  What gives?  Should I be concerned?  My monthly parity check will kick-off in a couple days, regardless.

IIRC, that means due to the reboot it has no record of the last parity check. It does not persist through a reboot. If all green no worries.

It means Parity has not been checked. The status is saved to the flash drive and is retained across reboots.

I've rebooted before and not seen this message.  I also know my parity was checked and was good earlier in the week.  And I'm inclined to think it wasn't a dirty shutdown.  Those typically launch right into a parity check.  So, I guess my system is like mine: confused.

I have run two parity checks in the past 3 days with having removed 2 drives from the array (one at a time). This included multiple reboots including one last one to clear up a Plex issue. My Dashboard shows the following message:

Parity is valid

Parity has not been checked yet.

I'm taking the Homer approach.  Unless I hear a bad sound or see a NON-GREEN ball, woohoo.
