Moving from Windows server 2003 with data discs

Featured Replies

Hello, new guy here.

I have 2 data discs that I really dont want to loose the data from. They were in a windows server 2003 install. Im just wondering if there is a way to add these hdds in any way to unraid(As the only two data drives) without formatting/loosing the data on them. Or do I need to temporarily store these data first, then format them & add them to the array and finally copy the data back?

The data discs are normal windows ntfs discs.

Hi -

unRAID doesn't natively support FAT32 or NTFS formated disks, which are what Windows uses.  Unfortunately that means you'll have to copy data from them to unRAID, or use temporary storage.

Ohwell, thank you for the reply :)

It is possible to get an unRAID server to read NTFS disks, so you could plug them into an unRAID server and copy their files to an unRAID disk.
