What to expect for Black Friday?

Featured Replies

I need to get additional hard drive. Was thinking about the HGST 4TB (probably 2: 1 as parity and another one as data)

Any ideas what to expect for Black Friday?

If its anything like last year, then expect no major deals on anything I wanted.

Newegg has 2 x 4TB WD Red as Shell Shocker Deal 2 today for $280. That's $140 / drive or $35 / TB.

Same for me last year.  Didn't see any HDDs that I wanted to buy on sale.  I don't trust Newegg for OEM HDDs any more so I ignore them other then trying to find price matches.

Amazon is doing "Black Friday" deals till christmas. Expect those lightning deals to go fast.

Haven't seen any spectacular deals mentioned yet for regular hard drives. Not expecting any real deals, maybe save a few bucks or get free shipping. There have been some really nice prices on ssd the last few weeks. Though seen the price steadily go up in the last week or so, so they can go on 'sale' on black friday i'm guessing. Been using reddit site https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/ to watch for deals daily. On the right hand side of the page, you can click and sort deals by type. Seems most if not all of the better deals mentioned on other deal sites will get posted there by folks. Hoping to pick up an evo 250gb for $50-60 range.
