d.bech
Hey guys, I'm currently looking to share my shares outside my network. Me and some friends mess about making youtube videos off and on and I want to be able to share our footage with them so anyone can edit. Currently I'm thinking I'll setup a VPN and that way they can just access the shares as if they were on their own networks. This should allow them to use the share as a source in prem pro. I've spotted and installed this plugin: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=35435.0 I had a look over the settings page for it and then the openVPN setup guide and immediately felt lost. Has anyone seen a guide for setting this plugin up kicking around? Also does anyone forsee any problems with my current plan? Is there a better way of doing this? Quote Link to comment
trurl
Easiest is to give VPN duties to your router if it supports it. Quote Link to comment

d.bech
Probably going to get this: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/31634/draytek-vigor-2120-gigabit-router as my current router can't run a VPN server AFAIK and probably do with gigabit anyway Quote Link to comment
PeterB
I have no experience with the V2120, but I have been using Draytek Vigor routers exclusively, for more than 15 years and can give a strong recommendation. While I was still running my business in UK, I ran a multi-office wan across several sites, using Vigor routers, and it worked very effectively. I was also a retail agent/distributor for Draytek products. Quote Link to comment
Regent
Easiest is to give VPN duties to your router if it supports it. If you're using the router for VPN, is it possible to allow access to only 1 of several shares on the unraid nas? Is limiting VPN access to a share a function of the vpn setup, or the settings of the share on unraid? Quote Link to comment

d.bech
I think I am going to try and configure a VPN server on unraid in the mean time while I get around to upgrading my router. Should I use that plugin or would a docker be best? And how do I set it up? Quote Link to comment

I recommend OpenVPN from this https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-templates source, worked for me. Any questions I had were stomped searching through: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?board=56.0 and Google. Quote Link to comment
