PLEX and Dockers/Containers??

Featured Replies

Where to I find, help with hosting PLEX on unRAID; and just Dockers/Containers in general?  ???  ???

Help with what aspect of it? It's easy. Install the community applications plugin, install a Plex docker container(i recommend linuxservers.io's), and go. Anything else is covered in the docker forum

I just have no end of trouble with it, frankly.

Like this morning, was typical:

I go to start PLEX...it can't find the server. So I go into the unRAID console, try to do a stop and start. It stops...but I can't get it re-started.

I notice there's an update available; but I don't want to do an "unclean" update. So I stop the array, reboot the server; and then PLEX is working again (which is what I've had to usually do, in the past).

So then I decide to run the update. It looks to run fine; got a successful update message, at the end. But then...there's no f*cking PLEX anymore!

So I'm like, OK...maybe I need another re-boot, after the update. NOPE...NO PLEX! Like I have to re-install the thing again.

I just don't get it.  ???  :o

Which author are you using?  You really should use either Linux server or binhex

Switch over to Linuxservers version.  You're going to be better off.

Also you're behind a couple of versions on CA

OK; I updated to 2.20 on CA. Might as well, make sure I get this right...this time.

Here is linuxserver's PLEX

Do I select a template? What's my Network Type? And my path, is the media dir I want to point to, yes?

Don't select a template. (CA fills it all out for you) and add a host and container path for your movies - or /mnt mapped to /mnt

My guess is...I probably have some uninstalling, of the previous version, to do?

Disk error.  Most likely the docker omg is full.  Tons of threads here (start in docker faq)

What is the difference between all the Plex docker athours and why is some recomanded over others?

My GOD! Do I have to add a Container, before an App??

Don't understand the question. Docker applications are containers.

Most have found it best to make it larger if you plan on running several dockers. I have 20G with a little over half of that used for 9 dockers.

I really, only plan to run PLEX; for now certainly. So...stay at 10 and proceed?

OK. You can increase it later if needed.
