unRAID Server release 4.5 "final" Available

Featured Replies

I've uprgaded from 4.3.3 to 4.5.1. My upload transfer rate went from 18 MB/s to 35 MB/s ! I can't believe my eyes! That was a 13GB Blu-ray file...

Just wanted to share my success  ;D

Is that with, or without a cache drive being written to?

No Cache Drive. I am using an intel gigabit network card on a PCI-E bus (shouldn't matter but...) all the drives are WD Sata "Black" series.

I was really, pleasantly surprised at the performance increase!

Really that much of an improvement? Wow! I started with 4.4.2 Pro and now running 4.5.1 pro, but haven't measured the speed difference, nor have I noticed a noticeable improvement. But, if you claim it, then it is handy to know. Thanks for the info!

Which card are you referencing?  Can you provide info?

Here you go Yorgo:

A forum search on "AOC-SASLP-MV8" will give lots more hits.  To summarize its an 8 port PCI express SATA card that runs in the ~$100 USD range which is why many folks are interested in it.

Thanks much, RoninTech.  Very cool!

Speak of the devil!!  ;D

"Primary focus of unRaid 4.5.3 is support of the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8" - paraphrasing.

I have a WDTV Live to stream mkv movies off my unraid box. After I upgraded to the final, playing a video does not show me the length anymore, nor the time I'm at when I hit pause.

I know that sounds vague but other than upgrading unraid, that's all that's changed in the environment as far as I can remember. It used to show me video length and position.

Where is the download link to 4.5.2?

I'd like to try hpt 2320 with that and I can't find the download link referenced in the forum although it appears in 4.5.3's changelog.

4.5.3 is the newest version and usually the most compatible.

Any specific reason you think you need 4.5.2?

Pretty sure 4.5.2 it was pulled almost immediately upon release as it had a major bug.

Changes from 4.5.2 to 4.5.3

---------------------------

Other:

- Update linux kernel to 2.6.32.9

- Enable SMT (Hyperthreading) scheduler support in kernel.

- Update linux udev subsystem to 1.41.

- Fix problem reading USB Flash device model & serial number with some motherboads.

- Added USB FTDI Single Port Serial Driver per user request.

Changes from 4.5.1 to 4.5.2

---------------------------

Bug fixes:

- Fix problem where device assignment via webGui could fail if device identifier is too long.

Other:

- Added SCST subsystem (see http://scst.sourceforge.net) in order to support Marvell 88SE63xx/64xx/68xx/94xx SAS controller-based cards.

- Added 'COPYING' file in release that includes text of the GPL version 2.

Oh okay. I didn't see any mention of 4.5.3 fixing any major bugs of 4.5.2 in the changelog.

Anyhoo.... I caved in and ordered an RPC-4220 and a pair of AOC-SASLP-MV8 to make use of 4.5.3. I hope my P5B-E Plus can handle a pair of those controllers so I don't have to change the mobo too..

Was short-lived because of this:

- Fix problem reading USB Flash device model & serial number with some motherboads.
