Favorite PLEX docker?

Featured Replies

I am currently running the docker from Needo but it does not seem like it is currently getting updates.  I a considering moving to a new PLEX docker.  I would be happy to see some recommendations on which one I should use.

Thanks in advance, Mike.

linuxserver.io

linuxserver.io

Lsio is reorganizing their repositories so it might not be available in CA today.

Another recommendation is binhex

I use binhex

I use binhex as well, no complaints.

My vote is for Linuxserver.io too, but being fair either our version or binhex's are the two to pick from.

LSIO version uses Ubuntu while binhex uses arch linux I believe. From a resource perspective, does it make more sense to run the one that the rest of your Docker containers are running? ie if you are running other binhex Dockers, go with that. But most containers use the Ubuntu base I believe.

Do these offer benefits over UnRaid's container?

Ours and binhex's tend to be a little better supported I would say.  LT are a little more hands off in terms of container support, having their hands full with the rest of the Unraid ecosystem I guess.

The real fundamental difference as far as the user is concerned between bases is that of space.  Running binhex for some apps and lsio for others means that you're going to wind up using more space in the docker.img file than if they were all one or the other.  But fundamentally, in this day and age of monster sized arrays, there really isn't any reason to not size docker.img as large as you want / need.

Memory is cheap.

That makes sense. I'm running Limetech's without problem but I'll likely migrate to LSIO's once 6.2 finalizes. Why make things easy?

why you aren't running sonarr and couchpotato as docker containers?

For plex I went with a seperate VM to run Plex in and not for the Docker.. Main reason was that I have my unraid system

s dockers connecting thru an outgoing VPN to the outside wold and having plex in that mix causes it to not beiing able to find the  server.. Having plex run in a different VPN gives it a seperate IP address which means I can quite easily route the plex traffic over the non-vpnéd outside..
