Wireless Access Point Suggestions

Featured Replies

I have switched from a Netgear R7000 as my router to pfSense. The Netgear is currently serving as an access point, though is quite overkill for what I am asking of it.

Can anyone suggest to me any good access points they have had luck with? Optimally I would love for the to be PoE powered. Looking to get a couple to get rid of some dead spots and serve up internet to my fire pit area of the back yard.

I've always been interested in the UniFi products, but the price usually scares me away.

I totally get the UniFi is a MUCH better product, but I could get 4x WA850RE's for the price of a single unifi, and I dont even need to as the little range extender covers my entire house itself with ease.

I love my unifi wireless stuff.

Much of it comes down to how many devices you are expecting your network to service simultaneously. Unifi stuff can handle WAY more connected devices without choking.

I hosted a LAN party for Artemis that was actually mostly wireless, and had a bunch of connectivity issues after 5 or so active connections were established. After I removed the consumer grade wireless and upgraded to unifi, I've had NO issues, even with 20+ wireless devices all actively talking.

The price is worth it if you need it.
