The format should only take a few minutes (if that).   I have seen cases where the GUI does not show the format has completed until the page is refreshed.

It will take longer during a parity sync, but still minutes.

I didn't time it but it was about 3 to 5 minutes for it to start the array after fixing the cache drive, although I was able to open the UI in another tab and see the cache mounted. It felt like longer.

 

The system was fine but it felt like it hung on mounting disks, just took longer than normal and much longer compared to when I originally started it up with the issue.

 

Formatting took again a few minutes likely around 5 minutes. Soon after that, I noticed the new drive had 40GB written too already, a download a started up once everything was working again.

As an FYI we were able to recreate this and are working on a fix.  Thank you!
