Any tips or tricks for items I'm seeing in the lost in found folder?

Some files will have a different name and/or no extension, file size can help to determine what it was, but basically you'll need to add an extension and try to play/open them.

@johnnie.black Never cease to be impressed at your drive salvage skills.  Glad this worked out alright for you @SuperNotSupper

Well, can't take credit for that, IMO it's the only thing good about reiser,  fsck is superior to most other file systems and recover data in pretty dire situations.

Johnnie -- can't thank you enough. I'm going through the lost and found and oddly enough most of the content is duplicated in it's original home. There are a handful of files with no names but I can sift through those. For now - crisis averted.

For anyone who is stupid enough to make the same mistake I did, please follow the steps Johnnie outlined and it will get you back on track.

Glad you were able to recover most of your files.   Now is a good time to setup a backup strategy :D
