Glad this worked out alright for you @SuperNotSupper Well, can't take credit for that, IMO it's the only thing good about reiser, fsck is superior to most other file systems and recover data in pretty dire situations.

Johnnie -- can't thank you enough. I'm going through the lost and found and oddly enough most of the content is duplicated in it's original home. There are a handful of files with no names but I can sift through those. For now - crisis averted. For anyone who is stupid enough to make the same mistake I did, please follow the steps Johnnie outlined and it will get you back on track.
