Key Replacement (2nd)

Featured Replies

I emailed support and received a response saying that I must post here first, so here I go...

I purchased a basic license back in May of this year and requested a replacement a few weeks later because I wanted to use a different USB drive. I have changed my USB key again because I wanted to increase the size and need to ask for a second replacement key - is that possible?

Thanks,

Zac

According to the official key replacement page [ https://lime-technology.com/replace-key/ ] you should do the following...

IMPORTANT:  An original key may be replaced at any time.  A replacement key may be replaced for another replacement after 12 months.  Should you require another replacement key within that 12 month period, send an e-mail to [email protected] to discuss your options.

Once a registration key is transferred to a new USB flash GUID, the previous USB flash GUID becomes permanently blacklisted from use with key registration. Once a USB flash GUID is blacklisted

Why do you want more space for the flash drive anyway? It doesn't store much, is mostly only read on boot, and only written when you change something in the webUI.

This seems a strange reason to change a usb drive.   I have run quite happily for years on a 2GB drive.   I would not have thought you could get ones that small any more?    Also, given a choice a USB2 drive seems to be more reliable than USB3 drives, and the increased performance of USB3 has a negligible impact on unRAID as it runs from RAN.
