Hi All -  I have an r710 and my 6 drive bays are full.  I wanted to also use the onboard SATA to get another drive hooked up.  So my plan is to get an optical caddy and a gp703 cable and tie it into the motherboard.  The optical caddy only fits 2.5" drives and the only 2.5 inch drive I have is my cache SSD.  Will the system recognize the move to the new port and not have to be reconfigured or will i have to rebuild the system?  The cache drive is currently connect to an h200 controller.

Thanks for the help!

It should work properly as unRAID tracks disks by the manufacturer's serial number.  (I seem to recall that there are a VERY few SATA HBA cards that do not report the serial numbers correctly and that would give you a problem.)

yes. I moved to a new case - i didn't track what was plugged into what - when I started unraid from the new box it recognized all drives for that they should be.
