unRAID no longer boots

Featured Replies

I purchased FL-PRO-2  and 2  bootable flash drives in March, 2008 .
The unRAID version I have is 4.2.4   -- I never felt the need to upgrade.

The unRAID server no longer boots from either flash drive.
When I insert the flash drive into the unRAID server ( which has functioned for
nearly 10 years now), I keep getting the message "insert boot drive and hit enter key."
The flash drive lights up briefly and then I get the same message -- repeating each time.
I am desperate to recover my disks. I have tried software to read  reiserFS  disks on my
Windows machine but have not succeeded, so I need to get the unRAID server working again.

I am sure the hardware is working fine.

What should I do?

My initial thoughts if this is a very old system is that the battery on the motherboard that keeps the bios settings alive needs replacing and therefore you need to check the boot device set in the bios , because if this is the problem it has probably changed to look for a hard disk rather than a usb drive.

No I have replaced the  battery, and the boot device is set  as USB drive in the  BIOS.

As far as I can tell the hardware is fine.

I even purchased another identical motherboard, switched over my CPU and memory

and have the  same problem.

Will it boot if you set up another USB drive as a v6 trial (your data will be safe -> we're just seeing if it boots)

Hooray --yet it does.

I get the Tower login message.

Now how to I restore my disk configuration?

I would assume super.dat is your disk configuration on this very very old version, but I don't know if anyone likely to respond to this thread ever ran that version. Many of the people from those days are seldom active on the forum.

Do you have a screenshot of your disk assignments?
