Jules
Hi everyone, My server is pretty simple, containing 2 SSD's, 2 normal drives and 2 Parity drives. It is for a business with pretty low needs. Question: if both HDD's fail at the same time, can the 2 parity drives restore them both? Does it work like that? P.S. just in case you were wondering as it seems that this pops up in nearly every rebuild topic, the server backs up on 3 different servers, in 3 different countries on a daily basis and another local backup as well. trurl
You can rebuild as many disks (parity or data) as you have parity disks. 2 good parity can rebuild 2 failed data 1 good parity and 1 good data can rebuild 1 failed parity and 1 failed data 2 good data can rebuild 2 failed parity Quote Link to comment

trurl
Note however that if you have more failed disks than you have parity disks you cannot rebuild anything at all. If you have 2 good parity but 3 failed data then no data disk can be rebuilt for example. Quote Link to comment
