Jeff3296
Hello, I currently have a bunch of 3 TB drives that I plan on upgrading to 10 TB over the next few days. I ran a parity scan a few days ago and just replaced a 10 TB which is currently finishing up. My question is, once the rebuild of the new 10 TB is finished, may I immediately swap a replacement 10 TB in for another 3 TB drive, or do I need to run another parity scan prior? Thank you for your time! Quote Link to comment
trurl
Technically there is no need to run a parity check. Parity is already valid. The only reason you might want to run a (non-correcting) parity check would be to confirm that the rebuild is completely valid. Quote Link to comment

JonathanM
As long as you keep the old 3TB drives intact for the duration of the upgrade project, you could always recover from them if things start going badly. Quote Link to comment
