WilliamLi
Hi I just join Unraid, so far very enjoy this system. I just bought my new system with i3-9100 CPU with iGPU, working perfect for my Plex server for HW transcoding. but I want this server can be more, right now I'm thinking to buy 1650 super graphics card on my system use for VM windows play game with steam link, I check on google everywhere but can't get it's working or not, have anyone tried and working ? if is ok I can be comfortable to buy the graphics card. I will to use my i3 iGPU for Plex server and 1650 super for vm gaming at same time. thanks. Quote Link to comment
mgutt
This is a usual setup, used by many people. So yes, this would work. But consider: - the GPU will draw power, even if the VM is shutdown - it could be possible that some games do not work in a VM because of DRM or Anti-Cheat - 4 cores are ok for a VM, but if other people in your household upload files to the server, this could have a negative impact to your VM (as Unraid uses the cores, too) Quote Link to comment
khartahk
I'm using a simmilar setup only a Radeon RX570 and Intel Core i5 6400T. I'm passing through IGP to a Ubuntu VM host where I run Plex and also 4 HDDs are passed through directly coz I'm using ZFS to store everything. Then I have Windows 10 VM to which I pass through the Radeon RX570 also for games directly and steam link to my TV. I've set 3 cores to be available to both VM's and isolated them so that unraid does not touch them and so unraid only has 1 core to work with. Windows 10 VM setup: CPU Mode: Host Passthrough (Intel® Core™ i5-6400T) Logical CPUs: 1,2,3 Initial Memory: 16384 MB Max Memory: 16384 MB Machine: Q35-4.2 BIOS: SeaBIOS Hyper-V: Yes USB Controller: 3.0 (qemu XHCI) Primary vDisk Location: Auto /mnt/user/domains/Windows 10/vdisk1.img Primary vDisk Bus: VirtIO Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 470/480/570/570X/580/580X/590 (01:00.0) Sound Card: AMD Ellesmere HDMI Audio [Radeon RX 470/480 / 570/580/590] (01:00.1) Ubuntu VM setup: CPU Mode: Host Passthrough (Intel® Core™ i5-6400T) Logical CPUs: 1,2,3 Initial Memory: 8192 MB Max Memory: 8192 MB Machine: Q35-3.1 BIOS: OVMF USB Controller: 2.0 (EHCI) Primary vDisk Location: Auto /mnt/user/domains/nas/vdisk1.img Primary vDisk Bus: VirtIO Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 530 (00:02.0) Quote Link to comment
