acurunner79
Hi, I'm having issues getting into the BIOS of my motherboard because there is nothing displayed on monitor. Unraid boots up with no issues and I can access my VMs thru the display without a problem. I only have this issue on the bootup. I can't seem to find anyone else with this issue so I'm stumped! Any help would be great, thanks. I can provide any info needed to help resolve this issue so just let me know what you need. Quote Link to comment
JonathanM
Normally this means that you have multiple video outputs, and the BIOS is sending video to a different port. You haven't given us any clues to go on, so that's just a guess. Quote Link to comment
acurunner79
Yes I do have multiple outputs! Sorry for not posting this. I have two gpu's and one on the motherboard. This problem originally happened right after I had set up my Windows VM to passthru my gpu. Quote Link to comment
JonathanM
To access your BIOS now you will need to plug a monitor into whichever output your motherboard chose to use as primary. Some motherboards will allow you to choose which card it uses, others are arbitrary. It's not under Unraid's control. Quote Link to comment
acurunner79
So I assumed that was the case originally but I've tried every port available. No video output at all! Only output I get is when I start my Windows VM. Edited June 9, 2020 by acurunner79 Forgot to add something Quote Link to comment

acurunner79
Ok so there are no updates for my BIOS... I'm stumped again! Is there a way to find out which GPU my MoBo is set to when I can't access my BIOS? Here's what I'm running: ASRock X570M Pro4 AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Asus GTX 1060 3GB PNY GeForce GT 730 Quote Link to comment
meep
Well, as in all IT troubleshooting, you need to break down the problem, eliminate variables and start with the smallest testable configuration. A few things you can try; 1. Remove all GPUs leaving only onboard video, then boot with display attached there. You need to get into your bios and this will help you determine if your MB video is working etc. 2. Then add a single GPU and try that. 3. Reset your MB bios to return it to default settings. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
acurunner79
Ok so I removed the PNY GeForce GT 730 and was able to get into BIOS! Unfortunately, now my VM won't passthru the main GPU I have set. It starts but no display. I went thru the settings and can't see anything wrong and I'm not getting any errors. Quote Link to comment
meep
Which GPU was the vm working with previously? Quote Link to comment
acurunner79
It was running with the GTX 1060... The GT 730 was for my MacOS VM which I haven't gotten to work yet. I looked at my grouping and everything seems fine there. Edited June 11, 2020 by acurunner79 Quote Link to comment
meep
My next step would be to install virtual manager docker and add a vnc vga display device. Boot the vm and watch the virt manager display to see what’s happening with your vm. It’s possible that it’s going into recovery mode before gpu initialisation, or some such. Quote Link to comment
