neepninja Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section. Is it possible to backup my unraid share (All Photos) to my RPi4 on the same network. I've looked at rclone and have never done scripting before. I would prefer a gui but not that important. Is there a guide from start to finish please? Thank you. Quote
CS01-HS Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 I'm using the Duplicacy docker (which has a GUI) to backup to a Time Capsule which I mount as an unassigned device over SMB. So far so good. An RPi4 with attached USB drive shared over SMB should work at least as well. 1 Quote
neepninja Posted July 5, 2020 Author Posted July 5, 2020 OK will take a look. Does it do schedule backup and if I delete a file from unraid does it also delete from the destination drive? Thanks. Quote
CS01-HS Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 It does versioned backup so there would be an earlier version WITH the deleted file and a later version WITHOUT it. You can configure how many backups to keep and for how long. Maybe that's more complex than you're looking for. Quote
CS01-HS Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 And yes it supports schedules. There's a bit of a learning curve though. Took me a couple weeks to get it 100%. Quote
neepninja Posted July 5, 2020 Author Posted July 5, 2020 I've come from Carbon Copy Cloner from MAC so I'm used to version backups. I will have a good look and play and see what's waht. Thanks. Is this encrypted or just copy for copy? Quote
CS01-HS Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 I believe it supports encrypted backups. Another one to look at is duplicati, also in CA – more user friendly but much slower backups to attached USB and network SMB. Quote
fct Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 I am using Resilio sync on Unraid (office) and on Raspberry pi (home) to backup all our work. Benefit is that I can access all data from phone and tablet too.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
