Kaygee
SIL3132 is PCI-e 2 port card. SIL3124 is PCI or PCI-x 4 port card. Dont buy PCI-e version doesnt work in unRAID, uses NEC PCIe to PCI bridge which wasnt supported last time I checked. Both usually support port multipliers. Unless you have PCI-X or PCI/66 bus which is unlikely, the SIL3124 will be strangled by the PCI bus. If you follow up let us know what MB you have and what controllers installed and we'll make a recommendation based o that info. Quote Link to comment
Rajahal
I've used the 2 port Sil3132 PCIe x1 card in several builds, it works great. I've also used the PCI version of the Sil3132, which also works, but isn't as fast. I heartily recommend the Sil3132 PCIe x1 card, especially since you can get it for under $20 at monoprice. aaronwt
I have the Rosewill version and am getting some good speeds from the two, 4 bay enclosures attached to it. I need to figure out what I can do to add two more enclosures. I only have five internal drives and the PCIx16 slot on my ASUS MB supposedly only supports video cards. I guess I need to check it out to make sure. Quote Link to comment
CHBMB
I've got a SiL3132 http://www.maplin.co.uk/pci-express-dual-esata-dual-internal-sata-ports-221494 with a SIL3726 Port Multiplier connected to it. http://www.addonics.com/products/host_controller/ad5sapm.asp Coupled with the six SATA ports on my Motherboard gives me 12 sata drives. 1 from the SiL3132 and 5 from the PM. Working fine for me. Quote Link to comment
