October 10, 20205 yr I am building a new system and wanted to stress test it a bit before I put it into production. I downloaded the Linux64 version, extracted it and copied mprime to the flash drive. When I run mprime it says Permission denied. Do I need to do something different? I running on a fresh flash drive and didn't register for unraid Trial because I wanted to keep this flash to just test systems before I put them on my Pro registered flash. Could this be the issue?
October 10, 20205 yr Are you booted into UnRAID at the time? Just asking as UnRaid does not let any file on the flash drive have execute permission.
October 10, 20205 yr Try copying the executable to a location in RAM before running it. /boot is FAT32, and is set up to deny executables.

October 10, 20205 yr Author I have tried /home and /proc with no luck. /home still tells me Permission denied. /proc gives the following: root@Tower2:/# cp /boot/prime95/mprime /proc/mprime cp: cannot create regular file '/proc/mprime': No such file or directory I don;t have any drives installed. I'm just trying to test the system before putting into my case with drives and such.
October 10, 20205 yr Author I just copied mprime to /mnt and tried to run it. It says Permission denied. Edited October 10, 20205 yr by RockDawg
October 10, 20205 yr Author I literally just figured that out. Not a Linux guy if you couldn't tell. Thanks!
December 28, 20205 yr Having followed the Guide on Reddit, I am having a similar issue with permissions for the Flash as RockDawg. Can I ask for any help on the simplest way/commands to change the permissions to be executable. Ie. is there an example of how to use chmod for a non Linux guy. Thanks!
December 28, 20205 yr Doesn't matter if you chmod or not. Executable permissions on the flash drive are not allowed. You have to copy the file elsewhere, chmod and then execute it from there.
