Rajahal
Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV125-S2/30GB 2.5" 30GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) $54.99 after MIR Would make a nice HTPC boot drive. Link to comment
chooch
Have they ever been this cheap? Been wanting to pick one up and don't recall seeing them this low. Link to comment
Rajahal
No, I don't think they have. As long as you don't mind messing with the MIR, this seems like the time to buy! If you are looking for the absolute cheapest SSD you can get, then check out this 8 GB Kingson for $45. Meager capacity, but still should be enough for an HTPC (my XBMC HTPC uses only about 2 GBs of it's 30 GB capacity). Link to comment
kizer
Thanks I might buy this for my AsRock ION. I've been wanting a faster boot and a second drive to try some of the newer builds of XMBC since I'm running Linux and if/when I screw up the install and config its down for a few days until I'm done tweaking. kizer
Bought one. Thanks for the headsup. Link to comment
kizer
Bought, Installed and did a quick boot test. In my AsRock Dual Core 2ghz running Linux XBMC 1:04 Original Boot time with a 5400 2.5" drive 24 With SSD drive installed I was rather impressed shaving 40 seconds off the boot time. In action it appears to be a bit snappier than the original drive. Of course its really hard to guage since I'm running it as an appliance with only one job in life to boot into XBMC and play videos. JustinAiken
I put this drive in my XBMC machine... Such a nice upgrade that it feels like I put in double the ram and a hefty CPU upgrade. Link to comment
lionelhutz
A pair in RAID0 would likely work well. Link to comment
