  1. Thanks so much .... I found this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LSI-9211-8i-P20-IT-Mode-for-ZFS-FreeNAS-unRAID-Dell-H200-H310-6Gbps-SAS-HBA/264126638864?hash=item3d7f2cab10:m:m5yXhmxZXSAtBOtym2nb41Q That look right to you? I have no idea what the difference in the various models - which one would i need?
  2. I need to replace my SATA controller. I need a low profile, small card .... This is my current controller: https://smile.amazon.com/IO-Crest-Controller-Non-Raid-SI-PEX40064/dp/B00AZ9T3OU/ This is my current mobo: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H87IPLUS/ I could buy that same controller again, but wondering if something newer that's out there might be worth investing in. Thoughts?
  3. gotcha... so just buy some new cables and go from there. Thanks!
  4. Hey Folks, I'm slightly above novice level but by no means an expert. I'm just dangerous enough to break stuff :-). Trying to figure out how to troubleshoot this/what's going on. Skip to the end for the direct question. In any event, I had an array with the following hard drive components: Parity - 4tb Drives 1,2,3 - 2 tb each Drives 4,5 - 4 tb each. I bought two WD Red 8TB drives to give me more capacity. When i started this process - all 6 of my drives passed the SMART report (aka all were green). So here's the timeline of what I did and what happened. 1) Pulled out Parity drive and inserted one of the 8TB. Started 3 cycle pre-clear. 2) SMART Report shows errors with Drives 4 & 5 - UDMA CRC Error reports for both. 3) Read somewhere that you could preclear two drives at one time. Pulled out Drive 4 and replaced with second 8 TB drive. Started pre-clear, got a bunch of UDMA CRC Error reports. 4) Read some more and found that lots of people saw errors with perfectly good drives when trying to preclear 2 drives at the same time. Stop preclear on the 2nd drive and re-inserted drive 4. 5) Finished preclear on "new" parity drive. Put it into rotation and it completed the rebuild operation without any problems. 6) Took my old parity drive and replaced drive 3 with it. Rebuilt without a problem. 7) Pulled out drive 1 and replaced with second 8 TB WD Red. Started pre-clear operation, told it to abandon the previous pre-clear and start new. Immediately provided a warning about UDMA errors. However, the "main" tab shows it as in the pre-read stage and moving along (slowly but moving along nonetheless). The text in the unassigned devices area is green. The preclear on the first 8 TB took about 6 days, so wanting to head this off at the start rather than wait another week to find out i've screwed something up. So bottom line - do I continue to let the pre-clear on the second 8 TB drive run or is it obviously bunk? I'm wondering if it's not suggesting there are errors because I already tried to preclear it when another preclear was going on? Moreover, because the original drives 4 & 5 were newer than Drives 1,2,3 and because drives 4&5 passed the preclear (albeit a few years back), AND b/c I *think* the UDMA errors relate to communication - how do I confirm that the problem is with the drives and not with the OS or the cables? Other potentially relevant information: I have had some issues with disk permissions and such in the past - whereby plugins wouldn't update and couldn't be deleted and my deluge docker suddenly stopped working. When I updated to 6.7, the plugin updating issue resolved itself. I have not started the array since then to be able to learn more about my docker issue. Attached are what I hope are all the relevant screenshots.
  5. So I got this message via Fix Common Problems: I don't know why this is and can't figure out how to solve the problem. There were a couple of downloads but they were only taking up 5% of space (and they get moved off anyway). Any suggestions? Meanwhile - deluge stopped working for some reason. I stopped the service and restarted it and here is what the log looks like - it says no container? which seems odd. I haven't changed any settings on it since i set it up and it worked fine last time i used it a few months back... any suggestions?
  6. So I recently got a new MacBook and want to start using my Time Machine share that I had been using on my other device. Because I have the old computer backups on the drive, I need to delete all of that to make enough room for my new computer. My question is - is it best to completely delete the user share and set a new one up with the same settings? Or is there a quick and easy way to simply delete the data off of the existing share? I have attached a screenshot of the settings just in case - the blacked out stuff is just b/c my username is actually my name so i've redacted that.
  7. I'll give 6.5.3 a shot - it wasn't listed as stable so I just never updated it. I'll also try the other things you suggest and check back in with an update. I redacted the username because it happens to be my given name. ?
  8. I recently ran into problems with Time Machine and I can't seem to get it to work again. it was working just fine for quite some time but I know it's temperamental with unraid. Hopefully, you all can help me figure out how to fix it. In order to troubleshoot the various error messages - i deleted my time machine backups via the Time Machine application in Mac. I then set up a new, encrypted backup. So I've chosen the disk, entered an encryption password and let it run. I get this error message: Backup Disk Not Available Try backing up again when "Buddha-AFP.local" is available. It seems odd b/c when I check my shares in finder locations - they all show up (see attachments). I have also looked at the AFP settings in Unraid and after having restarted it - it does now show 1 connected user. I am running OSX 10.14 beta and Unraid 6.4.0 So I can't figure out what gives. You can see my share settings in the attached files (i've blanked out the username in the shares). Let me know if there is anything else I can provide.
  9. We are talking about the files in my user shares - i was just providing an example from my appdata share since it's the same "behavior" - if i go into my user shares and try to recreate it - i would end up deleting something I want to keep. Happy to provide diagnostics - which logs would you?
  10. Definitely not fixed - though It's hard for me to get it to recreate the problem on one of my media folders since i don't inherently know which one will create a problem (and i don't actually want to delete a film i plan on storing).... the closest thing i can think of is in my appdata directory ... there are two instances where I can get it to show up ----> 1) one is with my old plex folder... here is the directory structure (/appdata is the share). plexmediaserver->Library->Application Support->Plex Media Server (current install) plexmediaserver->Library->Application Support->Plex (old install) "Plex" only has one folder in it - Codecs, and that folder is empty. Can't delete it via mac os x finder - don't see any hidden files. 2) plexmediaserver->Library->Application Support->Plex Media Server->Plug-Ins I was able to delete some of the bundles manually - but things like HDHRViewer and Plex2csv had to be deleted through the webtools interface. That's the best example I can think of - but keep in mind I'm really talking about my /Videos share and directories found there.
  11. so i have previously run Fix Common Problems and attached a screen cap of the results - i'm not terribly concerned by the time machine errors - and none of the other folders turn up any problems. I no longer have a windows machine but back when I did - whenever I ran into a problem browsing via Mac finder, i could circumvent it by using my windows machine to edit directories / files.
  12. Thanks - good advice. I'll get something posted soon if i can find a folder from memory :-). In the meantime - there are no special characters involved in either the folder name or the files within. Public shares - SMB - i'm connected to the server as a registered user.
  13. So I use a macbook pro to file manage on my server. I have no problem connecting in and accessing my files - however - somewhere my file permissions are flubbed b/c some files I can edit and some it tells me i don't have permission - eg .... i have to movies both in folders - Movie A and Movie B - i go to rename movie A folder - boom - works like a charm. I go to rename movie B and i get permission denied. Any ideas?
  14. Thanks everyone - after a lot of research into some of the suggestions here - i ended up getting an NVIDIA SHIELD. Super excited - RIP HTPC!!!
  15. Copy that! Haha - didn't want to sound like a weenie for being all "you mean PMP not PMS?" but they are different so just wanted to make sure. Good point on the 10bit vs 8bit part of it. Per the NUC7 that you suggest - i do have a solid state drive with windows and what not on it - i wouldn't mind ussing that but looks like i'd need to get an adapter ... still if i'm in the $300 range - do you think that's a better option than say the NVIDIA shield or XBOX/PS? If i go with one of those two i would basically be able to just have one box in my closet - which would be nice - where as if i have a dedicated plex box - i still need to have a fire. Besides - under my current setup i can still play a handful of Windows based games....which is kind of nice. You mean it won't support plex? (sorry - so many helpful conversations going on that i'm losing track of who is saying what to whom!) :-)
  16. gotcha - i'll do a little hunting - it sounds promising and i like open source stuff.
  17. What NUC would you suggest? and for that matter - do you mean to say PMS on the NUC? B/c I've got PMS on my UnRaid and am just looking at a PMP "head" to attach. I might end up just replacing the fan in my HTPC for $35 and seeing if that does the trick. Not anything specific but I am storing some high-quality encodes that do have 7.1 and have always noticed that my receiver pipes out better sound from my HTPC than it does from my Amazon Fire. What version of the roku do you ahve? So you mean this sucker http://khadas.com/? - never heard of it - looks pretty awesome - where did you learn about it? I also have a FLIRC on my HTPC and use it with my harmony - is that necessary on this new device without flirc? Is there any reason to think that this produces better quality audio than say - a top of the line roku? I would be totally fine with a box that boots into PLEX - i'm guessing that's an option here? It also seems like it doesn't support 7.1 :-(
  18. So, for the past 4-years, I've had a custom built Windows-based HTPC as my main way of viewing my media (I actually run PLEX on top of it). However, my HTPC has started to fail - and so while i diagnose that whole thing and then decide if it's worth repairing and/or upgrading, I wanted to put something out there to others - what do you use as your "Front end" media player? I actually have a chromecast ultra as well as an amazon fire tv; however, i find that the audio quality for those devices isn't great. With all of the options out there, what should i buy if i go this route? Should I simply stick with HTPCs? Or should i consider something like a RokuUltra? Even better - what about a NVidia Shield (or at that price - just an xbox or ps)? My main concern is the ability for good audio quality playback (not just on music but also on my video files)?
  19. It's been working fine for a solid year but all of the sudden I've gotten this message (see attached). I've restarted my computer but that didn't seem to do the trick. I've also ejected the disk once logged in. any thoughts?
  20. Gotcha - I had: /data /mnt/user/Downloads/Sabnzbd/ /data /mnt/user/Downloads/Sonarr/ Will Sonarr rename stuff already in that folder or do i need to run them through filebot and move them manually? I thought I had done that properly but i can't tell. So here's is a screen shot of a profile i've setup for quality - the show page for S04 of IASIP and the Wanted Page.... the existing episodes don't show up on the wanted even though i've got them highlighted to do so...
