  1. Hi, I hope that you can help. I have two WD 2TB EARS drive without jumper and I am running 4.7 UnRaid. I have tried to run the preclear utility a few times now and wither it locks up after several hours or it will effect the performance of the server to such an extent I have quit it (ie I have been watching a few films whilst the Preclear is running without a problem then suddenly the video comes to a halt or very nearly, killing the preclear script allows the server to work fine again.) Should I be able to run the script on a working server? Thanks Ridley
  2. I have just upgraded to 4.7 and now have two 2Tb EARS drives to add to the array. At present the parity drive is a 1.5Tb drive, so I will be using one of the 2Tb drives as the parity drive. They are pre clearing at the moment. So do I just unassign the parity drive and reassign the parity drive as one of the 2Tb drives and then a parity rebuild will start? If so is there any way of saving the current configuration so that if anything goes wrong I can put back the 1.5Tb Parity drive? Thanks Ridley
  3. Re the syslog I followed the instructions on the wiki and that is all that was resturned, how do I get the entire syslog? As to your ideas WRT the cabling I have checked everything, would you suggest I reenable the drive and do a parity check? Ridley
  4. I hope that someone can help me here. UNRAID 4.7 Final. I have had an UNRAID system for a year or so now and I last added a drive maybe 6-8 months ago. The system has 8 x 1.5Tb Seagate ST31500 drives and a 1.5Tb Samsung HD145U drive. Six of the drives are attached to the motherboard controller and three to a cheapo PCI 4 port controller. All has been fine for months with no errors reported. I have just Swapped the cheap a cheerfull PCI 4 port controller for the SM MVS 8port. Once I got that up and running and all seemed fine I added a 2TB WD Ears drive, jumpered, but it refused to respond when I tried a pre clear, even if I tried the -z option. So I removed the jumper, this is a new drive never formatted etc, and tried the preclear script again with the block 64 option, which started OK. It is still running, it has gone through the pre-clear read and is now 9% through the post read. However I have just noticed that one of the other disks now has a red dot next to it, it is one of the 1.5Tb Seagates and it is one that is attached to the SM 8 port controller, it is also the one that I wrote data to last night whilst the pre-clear on the other drive was is progress. Is the drive failing just a coincidence? What should I do? I have attached a syslog and hope that you can help. Thanks Ridley syslog0602.zip
  5. Two problems with cache drive. I installed a cache drive yesterday and added it to the system then added it to my user share. When I started transferring data to the user share I could see the free space on the cache drive going down and I could browse to the drive and see the new data there. However without the cache drive I had been getting 18Mb/s writing to the user share now with the cache drive Iam getting <10Mbs. Something does not seem right here. But now I cannot seem to get the mover to work, I noticed this morning that the cache drive was still full, checked the syslog and could see nothing about the mover starting (mover log is on), so I tried manually started the mover and still nothing. Any idea what is going on? Ridley I have attached my syslog.
  6. I have built a unRAID server with 3 x 1.5TB Seagate hard drives and all is working fine. (steep learning curve being seems to be getting less steep.) My mother board is a Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G ICH10 southbridge and 6 x SATA ports. I connected the 3 drives to ports 0,1,2. I have ACHI and NAtive mode enabled. I just bought the pro version of unRAID so I decided to add another Seagate 1.5Tb Drive. When I attached the new drive the system would not boot when the BIOS got to the AHCI bit so I turned off and unpluged one of the working drives and plugged the new drive into the port I knew was working. When I rebooted it still stalled. So I replaced the working drive and checked everything was stilll working OK which it was. I now went into the BIOS and disabled AHCI and Native mode, now the system boots with the new drive installed so I have 4 working drives. However the new drive does not seem to support AHCI and/or native mode ( I have not checked which) is this something to worry about? Ridley
  7. Yes but the same thing happened in filezilla.
  8. I have a strange problem. I have just built a unRAID server using the demo software. Iam now trying to copy my data from my windows 2000 Server to the unRAID box, there is about 4Tb to copy so I wanted to use a system that would queue the transfers. So as I have used it before I decided to try Teracopy. So I selected the folders to transfer and pasted them into teracopy and started the copy. When it finished I noticed that it seemed to have not copied some of the folders I had selected from my windows server drive. So I tried again and noticed something odd, with similar named folders only one would enter into teracopy. For example: movies/11 14/vobs etc movies/11_14/11_14_720p.avi It would only paste one of the folders into teracopy for transfer. If I selected the folder it had missed and entered that one only to the queue, no problem. But with thousands of folders to copy this seems a little problematic. So I tried the same in filexilla and noticed the same thing happened there, when I pasted some of the folders I had selected where not transfered. Can anyone cast some light upon what is going on. Also as I know have some doubt as to whether the files that have been transfered are in fact correct can anyone recommend a piece of software that can compare the Windows Drive to the unRAID drive prior to deleting the Windows drives so I can fit them into unRAID. (This would only happen some time down the line when Iam happy everything is working well with unRAID.) Thanks Ridley
