Just a quick feedback: Whenever a Job crashes or fails because of file or size issue, directly restarting it seems to „fix“ it in a way that it works the next time? Idk whats weirder when it comes to that but I‘m currently seeing that behaviour again while backing up 1,5TB worth of Backups. Weird

Hello All and @PanicMechanic007 It‘s me again with another update or feedback, however u wanna call it :D I ran my 500Gb ish music Library Backup again and it, again, failed - So far so good, nothing to worry about. I‘ve attached the logs and a screenshot, just for the sake of it. What kinda wonders me is that after that failed, a couple other jobs failed to and after checking, the storage location, a Hetzner Storage Box with SFTP Connection display a red „breaker is on“ button. I wonder what that is, cause all these Jobs displayed a „Connection lost“ issue before I manually reset the breaker and sort of restored the connection back. Dedup is working fine, tho I‘m not sure if it only merges the duplicated files or also deletes files that are no longer needed, i.e from jobs that are no longer on the list ? Besides everything works as intended, only larger backups do create issues and fail almost completely while also, sort of, causing issues for the rest of the plugin and jobs. Anyway, these are my two cents. Hi @PanicMechanic007 Quick Feedback/Observation: When I run a Incremental Backup without any Compression on it, the Status bar on the running Job stays a 0% all the time, even til the end. Could it be the case that the Widget, sort of, only jumps to 1% or more when the operation is finished i.e the Whole Backup Job is finished? If that's not the case it may just takes a lot of time, I just simply noticed that Cheers´ Alex

You‘re absolutely welcome my friend, my pleasure posting my experience with the plugin and my setup. Yeah I already thought that this is obviously a passion project but then again: The Scope is already quite large & up to a certain standard that rivals other programs and software alike. So no pressure in that regard, I guess no one has that amount of „test-data“ on hand when u just do something for fun and personally need. But, since this is open source, someone someday will most certainly to something about it. That would be great, both for usage and long term control. Resiliency is always a very well welcomed addition. I myself mostly use brave on windows and safari, well, on Apple devices so usually I find myself just using my Mac to do it. It just accrued to me that clearing website data also helps when the unraid webui itself freezes. Sometimes you‘re simply not seeing the solution in front of you Again, You are the one we have to thank you, specially since this plugin is just the simple solution most of us want. Connect a FTP site, run the jobs and you‘re good to go. Even if this would be a paid option, I‘d gladly pay the price. Just because it‘s everything I want and need. Hello @PanicMechanic007 Sorry for the Spam on the Thread regarding the Vault Plugin but I've got a couple things on my mind and I think they would be a suitable upgrade to Vault: First of all: Could it be the case that the Widget for „Largest Backups“ only displays the largest current BackUp? I have the feeling, as soon as the incremental backups kick in, the largest shrinks down to the last incremental BackUp Size. Second: The Deamon "freezes" or is not responding quite often, specially when there's a larger operation running. For example: 250GB mix of documents, photos & videos, pdfs and zips. Running that with standard compression algo and best size, so the smallest, the operation ran for 30hours without any progress beyond 2 out of 4. And I think that's not suppose to be. After I cancelled, the average upload speed was 49KB/s despite 65MBit/s available. So do think sometimes it freezes. Third: Is there a way to implement a, sort of, menu to select how much resources Vault is allowed to use? I.E make it use more when there's more available? Granted, if the code and the used algorithms allow said options. Fourth: I do think the Plugin needs to be a bit more "robust" when it comes to handling anomalies or cases of a 30Hour Backup with no progress. That's not a complaint or a front against you, it's the opposite, I do think this is a very very good plugin/solution that can be even better. So no hard feelings, more like love for you in every aspect :D Fifth: Current Diagnostics are attached, just a bunch of stuff from the last couple of days. I did do a complete purge of Vault and installed it new for a couple of reasons, mainly because it kept freezing and stuff but I do think that's more on me than on you. Bottom Line: Thank you for your work and the respective time you invest in it. So far it is running great despite a couple of issues but nothings perfect and we all love to tinker. After that, Login again it Vault loads in a second. @PanicMechanic007 I think you need to take another look at the Brave Browser Issue from a couple of days ago, ‘cause it appeared again today. Also: My Jobs keep failing and the large on failed after 17hours? Ish something. Diagnostics are attached. vault-diagnostics-2026-07-25.zip EDIT: Yesterday, so the 25th, I did a complete purge and re-install of Vault. Partially because I increased the size of the storage target and it seemed like, it had borked the backup files of all of the previous backups. And second because I thought it might help with the current, non connecting issue to the vault daemon. Eversince the 09 update, I can't connect to the vault page, both with the shortcut up in the unraid list and throught he "Connect to WebUI" in the settings of vault in the settings tab of unraid. It will keep display connecting like this: That's the current state of it and it is like that ever since the 09 update. From a MacBook or iPad, both Safari, it works perfectly. Just not on Brave. Through Firefox Developement Edition, it works fine too. Even tho both Browsers are pretty locked down when it comes to privacy settings so idk why's that. vault-diagnostics-2026-07-26.zip Newest diagnostics are attached, just for the sake of it but that's it. And also: Really sleek improvements over the last couple of updates. This is really coming together quite nicely :) Cheers

I forgot to mention this: Like a couple of days ago, I started a backup run of a roughly 500GB worth of music, 46000files, over a 1000 folders. Obviously it took ages to even hit the first 1%, that‘s not the point, however I needed to hard-stop Vault and restart it because it completely froze. I don‘t know if it‘s related to the amount of files and size or just that I was to impatient but for shits and giggles here are the diagnostics from the last days. Quick Update: Version 2026.07.10 solved the Brave issue for me completely, so thank you for that. Also: the little File Browser next to the Storage location is a really good add in feature, so THANK YOU for that. Even with filesize indication, I don‘t know how you came up with the idea for this plugin but this is legit better than most paid options out there. Kudos to you:)

Hey, I just wanted to check the current status of Vault through my Brave Browser on my desktop and for some reason It loads endlessly to the point where the browser is displaying a "Tab is not responding, wait or leave?" message. I'll restart my pc but from every other client on my network it works. Just as a heads up, Diagnostics are attached, will post if something changes vault-diagnostics-2026-07-22.zip

Update: Since Plugin Version 2026.07.09, the current, Backing UP VM‘s is possible and it does it without errors or complications. It is slow‘er, though given with best compression and encryption that is not a surprise. So thank you for the work on your side, it now does exactly what I need

As requested the Diagnostics File Also: Kudos for the Update Frequency, haven‘t seen this many updates in a while vault-diagnostics-2026-07-19.zip Edit: Version 2026.07.07 is a real good update, performance and UI wise, runs like a champ so far EDIT 2: Since the update this morning, I ran the VM Backup again since why not. 20 Minutes ago, it threw me this error: New Diagnostics are attached as well vault-diagnostics-2026-07-19 - NEW 2ND.zip

One other little thing I noticed just now: In the Documentation it says that a Job can be canceled when it is running, i.e in the Jobs Tab. I think there's a Bug when you have a Job on a schedule but trigger it manually, click Run Now, because on my Jobs Page, I can't cancel a Job that is running now but is actually on a schedule. Could that be a case?

Beside that Something I came around yesterday: When U select the VM Backup, It took mine 100GB VM around 7 hours to do the initial backup only to end up in an error saying: Failed. Idk if I did something wrong but Is there something I can provide you with so you can take a look at? Don‘t think it is supposed to do that Also: Is there a way to implement a solution that If the Upload is busy i.e for example remote streaming for Plex, to throttle down the upload for Vault? Like a „little“ load balancer? I know its super niche but it is one of the things that came to mind when selecting the date and time for the backup

So first of all: This is the best Plugin/Suite/Dashboard of a BackUp Solution I‘ve seen this far, even tho I have not used many and this is my first deep dive into a complete setup for home use, it works like a champ. So, kudos to you for making it happen! :) Since this is my first time using a backup solution to backup data to a secondary storage solution, in my case a Data Centre, I‘ve got a couple questions and maybe some improvements that could make it easier for everybody or first time user in particular. When I setup my first Job yesterday, I noticed that the the Step-by-Step Setup for a Job is quite handy, in fact it made it really easy to understand what‘s necessary and what not. Since I wanted to explore it a little bit more I switched to Full Form only to find the Advanced Options missing? I was surprised at first but then I read the Note at the bottom, which explains it that when Full Form is used it uses sensible defaults. It‘s not bad but u might want to make that Note a little bit bigger or more noticeable. Speaking of noticeable and first time user: Is there a way of adding the documentation Link to the System Tab on the left? When I used it yesterday, it took me like 15 minutes yesterday to find them, I even thought there wasn‘t any. Again, I don‘t think it is a bad placement it could just be a bit more visible. Speaking of documentation: It ist really good, specially for something that is this detailed so Kudos again. Now to something I might not have understood completely but maybe that‘s something to clarify: In the documentation it is written that „A Weekly Full and Daily Incremental Backups are a good mix/use for Home Server Use“. So far so good, I completely agree with that. But now there‘s the catch: When U setup a Job for the first time, U need to select the BackUp Type, i.e Full, incremental, Differential. I‘m a big fan of incremental so I went with that but then It hit me: Is incremental, when the Job is first started, doing a Full Backup of selected Source and then only doing the incremental changes? To me, at least, it is not clearly visible if it is doing that or just backing up „something“?. It would really be helpful to add that to the documentation or even in the Job creation itself to help users, specially first time users, to set them up. What I did to be sure is to run a Full Backup at first and then switch it to incremental after it had finished. Idk if that is necessary at all but it worked. Aborting or Canceling Jobs: I know that there‘s a way to cancel a running Job, since it is documented in the documentation but for me, it does not cancel the already running job. In Fact: It does nothing. What cancels a Job is deleting it, then it cancels it. I just can‘t imagine that this is the supposed way of canceling one, or is it? I‘d really like to have a „Abort or Cancel“ Option for a job, even when it is not recommended. At least it would help when u run a job for the first time and set something up wrong. More like an Ask: is there away to display the Folder/File Structure on the Target site when Vault is connected to it, like an FTP client does? It does not need to have a lot of functions but a little overview of how the folder structure is would be neat, even tho it is not necessary. Just thought it would be nice. So quite the list but that‘s what the forum is for I guess ;) Jokes aside, this Plugin is a godsend specially for the use case I have. Keep improving it, keep doing it and I guess in a couple of years you‘ll be the standard for all of this. Cheers Alex

Hello, Yes exactly: My array is purely mechanical, therefore when all drives are running it needs quite the cooling to keep all of that cool - to be precise: 6 Fans and 2 CPU Cooling Fans. When all of them run, the whole server is cool - literally. My idea is now, when the array is spundown, to allocate the non-mechanical to a specific fan Group i.e make the then „second“ Drive Group available as an input for the fans to cool them. It‘s oddly specific I know that but basically I have to different sets of drives, mechanical and non-mechanical and both of them need cooling but realising that with only one „Drive Temperature“ Group is not that elegant or practical. Since u can select the drives which temperatures are to be pulled for the „HDD Temperature“ Sensor/Value to then set the corresponding percentages, Would it be possible to create two groups so to speak? I know the HDD Temperature is meant to be used for all the drives and what the IPMI/UnRaid gives is limited but wouldn‘t it be possible?

Hello y‘all, After reading almost the entire Thread/Post by now, I am kinda curious on what the „solution“ to hook up fans to a Supermicro H12SSL-NT mainboard is? I know the IPMI Plugin / the implementation of how the ipmi on the board works, only exposes only „2“ Fan Ports or from 1 to 4 so how do I hookup fans to that, so it can be controlled via the plugin? It would be lovely to control more than 2 ports for more groups so to speak of fans but I guess that is more a wish than a possibility Cheers and thanks in advance Alex

He y'all, Thank you for the reply's. As a quick update: Double checked that it isn't Parsec what it makes to "laggy" and it's the same with RealVNC / VNC Connection through UnRaid. No, there is no monitor connected - There is, however, a HDMI Dummy plug plugged into the GPU. Already checked if resolution is the problem, problems present themselves regardless of 2560x1440 or 1920x1080. That is actually a very good suggestion: I'll check right away and see if the 50/50 Split, so 4 cores for VM and 4 cores for UnRaid isn't a great split. EDIT #1: Nope, it's even worse with less than 4 Cores for the VM and more for UnRaid. Stil, it wouldn't surprise me if it the CPU itself, since it is one of the lowest EPYC's you can get. I might try to add a monitor directly to see if it is the video all the together that causes all of this. EDIT #2: With a monitor directly connected to the GPU, it's sort of the same experience, just a bit faster given it is not a networked connection. However, it has the same "running away" issue while editing. So I'm moving the VM on a passthrough SSD to let it have its own device. Cheers, Alex'
