My Unraid Server Crashes after about 1 month running
Oh i see. I may have another go at 6.10 -rc2 in a few days then to give it another shot and see if the bug persists, assuming it doesn't show up on 6.9.2 as well. Could you send a link to the bug report so that i can check in if there are any developments?

It seems then that i have no other option than to wait for 6.10 to be fixed? If the system stops becoming inaccessible now that i have downgraded to 6.9.2 that is

It says it the directory doesn't exist. iGPU was selected as primary graphics adapter last time i was in bios and hw transcoding worked before this issue started so that shouldn't be the problem. I don't have the intel gpu top plugin installed. The i915.conf file is created. Could it be because i have an 11th gen intel cpu (11500k)? The whole reason i moved to 6.10 -rc2 was to get hardware transcoding to work.

Got it done! I noticed the plex and jellyfin containers didnt start and i get error command when trying to. I removed --device=/dev/dri:/dev/dri from the extra parameters in the plex container and it starts but no longer does hardware transcoding. What do i need to do with jellyfin? The "/dev/dri:" field has to be filled in. So no hardware transcoding until they fix 6.10 -rc2 or am i mistaken?

Or -> restore to 6.9.2 -> run touch /boot/config/modprobe.d/i915.conf in the terminal -> done? Saw it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/unRAID/comments/m45h43/question_about_update_to_69x/ I dont mean to be confusing, just want to make sure i get it right

Ok, i will try it! How do i go about recreating the i915.conf file? Is this the process?: Restore to 6.9.2 -> Shut down server -> Pull out usb, insert into pc and recreate i915.conf file -> put usb into server and start -> done?

Ok, thank you!

6.10 -rc2. What should i do then? Restore to 6.9.2 and do what you said?

Unraid stops responding, requires hard reboot
Where can i uncomment modprobe i915? I turned off the server and pulled out the usb but i can't find it in the go file or anywhere else. The modprobe.d folder is empty. Maybe i can't on v6.10 RC2 and have to downgrade?

My Unraid Server Crashes after about 1 month running
I believe this is happening to my sever as well since the last few days, v6.10 RC2. Is uncommenting i915 in the go file still the best "solution" or has there been some development/ fix coming?

Unraid stops responding, requires hard reboot
This seems very possible. I have an 11500k, and I updated unraid to version 6.10 RC2 just to get hardware transcoding working with plex. The update to 6.10 RC2 was done a long time ago but this issue only started occuring a few days ago. But it still seems likely to me. I'm not sure what to do however, in the thread it is mentioned that i can uncomment # modprobe i915 in the go file. Will this render hardware transcoding impossible? Or should i downgrade unraid to the previous version?

Unraid stops responding, requires hard reboot
This problem started a couple of days ago. Unraid becomes unresponsive and doesn't even show up in LAN devices on the router. All the services also become unresponsive. Network shares also become unresponsive. I have tried different ports on the router, and restarted it as well as the switch. The only way i've been able to get it back up is holding down the power button for a few seconds for a hard reboot. I have attached the diagnostics file. I also ran "tail /var/log/syslog -f" and left the window open, I marked over some information, maybe not necessary. This issue has never occured before and unraid has been stable. osiris-diagnostics-20220110-2224.zip

Storing files on cache drive permanently
Any guidance?

Storing files on cache drive permanently
Hi! I'm in the process of putting together my first server (not yet built) and have a few questions. First off, my use case is not very demanding. The server will run Plex, Calibre + Calibre-Web and Nextcloud + a few other programs that aren't very demanding and don't require much space. It will not run any VMs. So appdata, dockers etc. should be lower than 200 GB if i'm not mistaken. Here are all my drives and which files i want to store on each drive, including their sizes which are high estimates. PC NVME 2TB: Books (150 GB) Audiobooks (200 GB) HDD 8 TB: Music (700 GB) Pictures (350 GB) Movies, Tv-Shows and Courses (4.4 TB) All Nextcloud files (1 TB) Unraid Server NVME 2TB: Cache Appdata (Size?) Dockers (Size?) Books (150 GB) Audiobooks (200 GB) Music (700 GB) Other files from Nextcloud (>100 GB) HDD 2x14TB in the UnRaid equivalent of Raid 1 (1x14 TB data drive and 1x14TB parity drive in my case): Movies, Tv-Shows and Courses (4.4 TB) Pictures (350 GB) Picture and video files from Nextcloud (500-1000 GB) Files to backup to remote location 4 TB LaCie HDD: Books (150 GB) Audiobooks (200 GB) Music (700 GB) Pictures (350 GB) All Nextcloud files (1 TB) Is the above doable? Can I store my files permanently on a cache drive, as shown above? I.e. books, audiobooks and music on the same drive that acts as cache and stores all appdata, dockers and program files. Is this what "pools" are used for? Or would it be better with 2 ssds to separate the data? Can the Nextcloud files be split up like that? If not they will all be on the 14 TB hard drives. The server will have 2x14 TB Toshiba hard drives. If i want to use one for mirroring the other, am i correct that I set one of them as data drive and one as parity? And this will allow me to expand with new drives in the future so long as they are no bigger than 14 TB?

How to setup one remote HDD to mirror unraid server
I have been offered two used Toshiba MG07ACA14TE 128MB 14TB hard drives for $520 (each with 2000 hrs and 7 start ups, good deal?). My plan is to use one in my unraid server and place the other in a different city across the country and mirror/ backup my unraid server to it. I assume this is doable. My first question is how would i set this up? My second question is how do i connect the backup HDD to the internet/ a router? I assume i have to buy some external case for it, what would that be?

General advice and buying advice for my first server
Hi, I´m planning on building my first server and i have realised there is a lot i know very little about, as well as a lot to consider and do in terms of security, reliability and automation. What i plan to do with the server: Plex for all my movies and tv-shows. Calibre server + calibre web to access all my e-books. Use as backup storage for all my familys devices. Sort of like a private dropbox for the family. First of all, is Unraid what i should use? I assume so but am a complete newbie to servers so please tell me. Now to the buying advice, i guess i should start with Intel or Amd? My budget excluding hard drives is around 500 dollars and im only planning on getting two HDDs at most. Both my up and download speed is about 100 Mbps. I´ve read that intel quicksync is great and basically makes a gpu for the server unnecessary since it can easily handle transcoding. But will the server even need to transcode if i have that upload speed? I will (try) to run plex and calibre in docker but other than that and using the server for letting my family backup their devices i can´t think of any other important or processing intensive things it will do. Please let me know if there is anything else i should add, thanks in advance!
