  1. I did get the GUI mode working by using GPU Driver integration. The AMD driver worked, but the Radeon did not. Still having issues binding the GPU to an existing Windows VM. I'll detail in a separate post when I can.
  2. I really do want the 2nd drive to be a backup/mirror of the first. I just don't know if it's worth setting it up as a parity with the supposed performance hit I hear about (vs mirrored drives). Although my cache drive is plenty big, so I doubt I would even notice. I know it would make expansion easy, but expansion in my case involves a new mobo/case. That's why I wonder if there is an alternate way to set up 2 HHDs. I'm having enough GPU issues, where I'm starting to question the whole thing.
  3. It looks like I misread some of the solutions to this issue, and booting legacy wasn't it, just enabling CSM. But there are others, something about a driver integration and also a nomodeset option. I'm not at home, and probably won't be able to get to it for a couple of days.
  4. I can confirm CSM is enabled, and still getting not bootable error from the non-UEFI side. I only have 1 other OLDER machine to try, but I had similar issues with different drives when I first practiced Unraid with it. I can maybe try a different port, but strange that would matter.
  5. Correct, I get both options. If I boot from the non-UEFI, it says it's not bootable. If I boot from UEFI, I can't boot into GUI mode.
  6. I'll double check my bios. But I'm pretty sure legacy/csm option was enabled. When I booted the non-UEFI partition, I got some error like "this is not a bootable drive."
  7. Does that only involve unchecking the option in Unraid on the flash drive? Or is there more to it? I tried just booting the 2nd USB partition that isn’t listed as UEFI but got an error. Reason for this, I cannot boot into GUI mode(it goes to a flashing cursor), and using Legacy boot was a proposed solution.
  8. Follow up: I think the issue was avahi also running in a homebridge container. I had the same (though different host name) issue in its' log. It ran in bridge mode, but I couldn't figure out how to connect because IP:Port wouldn't connect. Fixed IP did work, but I also found there's a oznu/homebridge:ubuntu-no-avahi repository and all is working well now. I'm still not sure what to do about the Local TLD / Certificate. 'Odin.local' is working, but suddenly 'Odin.home' stopped (though router.home works). Fix Common Problems is now telling me "Your Odin_unraid_bundle.pem certificate is for 'Odin.local' but your system's hostname is 'Odin.home'. Either adjust the system name and local TLD to match the certificate, or get a certificate that matches your settings." and "There is no DNS entry for 'Odin.home'". I certainly can change it to local, I might wait a second day to be sure problem #1 is fixed.
  9. Having an issue with my 1st Unraid setup. Jan 6 19:22:08 Odin avahi-daemon[3978]: Withdrawing address record for ::1 on lo. Jan 6 19:22:08 Odin avahi-daemon[3978]: Withdrawing address record for 127.0.0.1 on lo. Jan 6 19:22:08 Odin avahi-daemon[3978]: Host name conflict, retrying with Odin-51 Jan 6 19:22:08 Odin avahi-daemon[3978]: Registering new address record This host name conflict repeats itself every 20 seconds. I've found several posts with seemingly the same issue. Everything I've read says avahi doesn't like the .local domain (which is strange, since I believe that's the default) or Apple devices (which I have). I did change the TLD to 'home' on both Unraid and my router, however it continues to also use '.local' WebGui is still accessible from the IP. I've shrunk the DHCP to not include the Unraid IP. I set Unraid as a static IP. I also tried it set to Automatic and set the IP from the router. I had an issue with the certificate when trying to figure this all out, but I don't think that's the issue. I have an Asus RT-AX58U, and someone said that the .local domain is hard coded to it (as evidence router.home and router.local work), so I don't know if that's the issue or if it has to do with all the Apple devices on the network. Any help on what I can try next would be greatly appreciated. odin-diagnostics-20220106-1932.zip
  10. Thanks @Cessquill! It was refresh all Metadata. I was concerned I'd lose some artwork, but still better than the alternative.
  11. I recently moved from Windows to Unraid. Plex is working fine (even better than before), however none of my local extras will play. I get the error "please check that this file exists." A deeper dive shows all of those extras are still referencing the Windows path even though the main movie/TV files play fine with the correct Docker path. While I can pull the folders out/scan, put back in, I lose things like chosen artwork and collections, and it shows as a recently added movie. Any thoughts on how to correct the local extra paths without pulling out the entire movie & TV folders?
  12. New to Unraid, having serious problems transferring files with Krusader. I was attempting to copy media from a USB3 Drobo to Unraid. Shares are set up correctly, but at some point in the transfer things get stalled or frozen, even to the point of needing a hard reset/unsafe shutdown. After several parity checks (20hrs later), I decided to turn the parity drive off, to see if maybe there's a hardware issue there (I also unplugged a Keyboard, there were odd USB errors on boot up). Somehow after those 2 things (and turning on turbo write), it seemed to work. Today I was attempting to measure data transfers, transferring a 40gb file back to the unassigned Drobo, and the transfer froze again. I thought maybe the SATA controller had an issue (it's a mini-ITX), but now I'm not sure how to diagnose this, given the conditions are the same as they were when it worked. Any help is appreciated.
  13. I know the parity drive is the cornerstone of Unraid, but what if there's only 2 HDDs in a SFF build, and there might be issues with running a parity drive? My build is a mini-ITX, with only 4 SATA ports (plus m.2 slot). Currently there's 2 x 12TB HHDs, 1 X 1TB cache SSD, 1 BR drive, and a 500GB m.2 (older Windows drive). I hit many bumps in my first setup, as to be expected. The biggest one was copying data from a USB Drobo to Unraid. Using Krusader, it would either stall or freeze out the system. I checked all the BIOS settings specifically for Ryzen (global C-state, Power state, turned RAM speed down from 3000 to 2400), which maybe helped but I still encountered stalls. The best it would copy was 120GB. I also turned on turbo write mode. In a last ditch effort, I unplugged a keyboard (I did get weird USB cable fails messages on startup) and disabled the parity drive. This morning Santa delivered, Krusader is copying over perfectly! So between the issues transferring from an Unassigned device (to a non-cache share), but also really slow speeds transferring data over the network to another share (cache, 50gb took hours), and given there aren't multiple drives to protect at this time, I'm wondering if there's issues with the onboard SATA controller. And if that's the case, maybe there's an alternate way to set this up, like just running a sync between the drives? I'm open to suggestions, especially on tests to run. I'm new at this, so any help is appreciated.
  14. Does anyone know how to keep the config.js? My current Jitsi config (Ubuntu VM in Windows 10) uses special parameters to help limit bandwidth. EDIT: I found this on Jitsi Self Hosting Docker Guide Jitsi-Meet uses two configuration files for changing default settings within the web interface: config.js and interface_config.js. The files are located within the CONFIG directory configured within your environment file. These files are re-created on every container restart. If you'd like to provide your own settings, create your own config files: custom-config.js and custom-interface_config.js. It's enough to provide your relevant settings only, the docker scripts will append your custom files to the default ones! Unfortunately I wiped my previous install based on SpaceInvaderOne's guide, though I got it working with NPM. I tried adding a public domain after the fact (used duckdns in first install).
  15. Thanks for the reply! I should've been more specific. The MC I was referring to was Minecraft. I didn't know how to copy files to /appdata if they weren't shared, so instead I made a share called Minecraft and pointed the data to there. I wasn't sure if the default folders should be shared or if there's better ways of accessing them.
  16. I built a mini-ITX PC a few years ago for Plex and some gaming. And it turns out I do several server type things, so I may as well turn it into a full on NAS. While there is some room in this case for 5 or 6 total drives, the mobo only has 4 SATA ports, and 1 is used by the blu-ray drive. Right now the plan is to add 2 x 12tb drives (1 for parity), and 1 x 1tb SSD (as change RAM from 16 to 32GB), and once everything is running, I’ll add the 500gb m.2 SATA drive as additional cache, or however that works best.. I have started a practice server, thanks to some really old hardware my parents no longer use. It’s loud, only has 1 HDD and 2 gigs of DDR 2 ram. But I was excited to get it up and running. In addition, I’m also starting to understand Docker, I’ve had several failures under Windows in the past. So I have some general questions I thought I would put out to see if anyone has any best practices I should follow. Or if there are any flaws in my plan. Filesystem I’m very used to a GUI-os with Finder/WinExplorer. I can follow command line instructions, but that’s about it. How should one interact with with the filesystem like /appdata? For example in order to copy over a Minecraft world + server.prop I had to install MC server on a share. Another example is adding a Windows ISO for a VM. I just changed the default ISO storage path instead. Or should all of those Unraid folders be shares? I noticed there are Docker containers for Handbrake/MakeMKV/MKVToolNix. Is there any advantage to running those as opposed to in a Windows VM? Collecting physical media for Plex is one of the main functions this machine will do. My practice system doesn’t have a cache drive, so I’m curious as to how that should work. Do all the containers/VMs just reside in there? What about Plex metadata/video thumbnails/etc, do they stay in the cache drive? How is this all backed up? Networking I need to figure this out, as I currently use Jitsi in a Hyper-V for work. Right now I have DDNS built in to my Asus router, port 80/443 are open to the Hyper-V, and every 3 months I export the cert into a directory in the Ubuntu Hyper-V. That I understand, but then I hear about reverse proxy, and various apps and I’m not sure works together, especially with the current built in Asus DDNS. I have yet to get Jitsi working on my practice server using the Community App, I have not yet tried SpaceInvaderOne’s guide. I do own a domain as well. I wouldn’t mind learning how to connect other services to the outside, but Jitsi is the important one. Also, learning what the .local domain is, I thought it would be nice to set up more local domains (jellyfin.local, homebridge.local), but rebinding using Adguard or NextDNS don’t allow for adding a port to the ip. So this one seems above my pay grade for now. Backup Currently, my Windows 10 PC + Drobo 3 DAS (media) is backed up to Backblaze personal, and the Drobo 3 is also sync with a Drobo 2 (which is now loud and needs to be retired). My plan is to have a Windows 10 VM sync my Unraid shares with the Drobo 3 (USB) and have all of that be backed up to Backblaze. But since Unraid will also be Arq backups of 2 Mac laptops, I’m getting extra off-sight backup as well. At least I think that will all work that way. Here are my current planned uses (and how it’s going on the practice server): Plex - ✅ Jitsi - in progress Homebridge - ✅ Minecraft/Bedrock - ✅ AdGuard Home (mostly experimental) - ✅ Windows 10 VM (for MCEBuddy, Gaming, backups) - in progress, potential issues with VNC Like I said, these are just general questions, making sure I’m on the right path. I’ll ask specific ones when I’m on the real hardware. Thanks for reading.
  17. I just wanted to thank you for this solution. I'm very new to all of this and am repurposing my parents older PC as a test to make sure I can understand all of this. First, I had all sorts of issues getting it to boot, both from the PC and the USB stick. Then when I did, I wasn't getting an IP address. But I also had these No space left errors. That's when I found the solution of not booting into GUI mode.
