  1. Ok tried to stop parity and it's super slow to react (per it had lots of errors on disk 1) and refreshing the webpage doesn't seem to help, finally tried another and now cannot get to the tower page. also cannot see the server through the network, Hardrive LED is still solid... appears to be a disk1 issue causing the slowness or maybe something to do with the spinup-down script!!!!!! see the capture after tried to stop the parity I sat for 20 minutes waiting for all disks to unmount so i can shut it down properly. still will not shutdown properly (finally got the server shutdown after waiting along time) question - can I disconnect disk1 and the try another parity check or?
  2. Hey guys running 4.7 Pro for well over a year and have not done any transferring or addons of any kind for well over 2 months, I went to rebuild parity the other day and noticed the parity is super slow @ 46 kb/sec minutes are crazy like 69,5279 left. When i let it try to rebuild most of the day today it only got to 1.1% and disk1 had some errors. All disks show green even disk1 with the errors! But if i refresh the page they (all disks except parity) are all blinking like they are asleep! I have looked through the syslog and I saw some spindowns events, So i naturally changed the spindown to 9.0hours and it took.. But changing the spindown has no effect on speeding up the parity check. Any ideas on what's happening? I have attached the syslog fyi - I can view all my shares from my win 7 machine.... Thanks Aj syslog-2012-01-21.txt
  3. Does this plugin work with 4.7 Pro, Sorry didn't see any mention of what version.....
  4. Simple fix for me, Noticed that the folders I moved from the Cache drive to on the other disk were at top level, So if you have a disk with no folders or even shares and you add a top level folder to that disk it will become a share, Now granted the share will not show up in the config on your thumbdrive. but will be visible on your network - It will also be configured in the share settings on share tab on TOWER page. All I did was CUT the folder to another drive that actual had an assigned share, Then go into the shares on TOWER and backspace out the share and hit apply, Once the page refreshed the share was gone. If I have confused anyone - maybe one of the better experts can jump right in.... Thanks AJ
  5. The only addon to Unraid I am using is Unmenu and the shutdown script, Now I do have other computers and or media players (dune etc) that could be somewhat mapped to the cache drive.. Hmm as a test - I can dissconect all items on the network and retry... Thanks I will post back... AJ
  6. Here is the queeg post showing the same issue I have...... http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12793.0 Tom or Joe L Any ideas?
  7. I have searched the forum and found a similar post about the cache drive creating shares that could not be deleted, Possibly Queeg's post. I am running 4.7 pro with a cache drive, I can stop the array, then go to the share erase the share name, then hit apply, it thinks for a bit then refreshes the page and i scroll down and the share is still there. I have moved the folder and it's contents to another drive and renamed it now that new folder and is being shared....... What am I doing wrong? AJ
  8. Fired up my Test server - assigned disks (1 parity - disk1) and enabled them, ran a parity check sucessful - Set smb shares to public etc, Bit still cannot see the share through win7, What am i missing... OK FOUND IT, wrong workgroup, Now i can see the shares, Time for testing............. Thanks Tom.........
  9. Your server will not be "on" the net, (nobody on the net can get to it unless you open it up for direct access in your router) Instead, with the DNS server field set, the unRAID server will be able to access the net. It can then use it to get to the NIST time servers to keep your system clock set accurately, and to googlecode.com for unMENU updates, and to all the slackware package sites to download add-on packages through the new package manager. Joe L. Thanks Joe L that did the trick
  10. Joe that means the server will be on the Net right? I could temp edit what i need too download the files from google code and then set it back...? you must have, as it says, the DNS server set in the settings page, and the nameserver set. The name is tower do i just put in my router ip of 192.168.1.1 on the dns server 1 tab? see the picture..... Aj
  11. 4.6 Pro - Just tried net lookup googlecode.com and it returns nothing, Is that correct i don't want my server on the net
  12. I had Unmenu 1.1 - and tried to upgrade tonight :-\ I started off by deleting the /boot/unmenu folder using XP and then rebooting the tower from the tower web page. Then putty in Logged in and made mkdir /boot/unmenu Then downloaded unmenu_install1371.zip on my XP machine unzipped it on the xp machine and then copied the unmenu_install file to the unmenu folder using XP through the network. with Putty running i ran cd /boot/unmenu which takes me to the unmenu dir , then i ran command unmenu_install -i -d /boot/unmenu and it thinks for a second and returns the message below: Unable to connect to googlecode.com from your server. You must have a DNS Nameserver and Gateway defined in your unRAID setup before you can continue.. For most people, these are both set to the IP address of your router. root@Tower:/boot/unmenu# I keep getting this message either through putty or hooked up direct to the server! any ideas? Aj
  13. Joe - the script worked one time..... Running Pro 4.5.1 Now - So i did some t/s and found out that my bios clock which is in (military time) is being reset somehow on every reboot, So I installed my correct timezone file into the config dir (using custom - with no pools) and reset my bios clock to the correct time and rebooted the server, and set the unraid time in the settings and it took, Noticed the unraid time is not military time! Stop the array and then rebooted the server, Noticed as the server is rebooting that one of the messages says (saving sys time to hardware clock utc) the server reboots and the unraid time is still accurate, But if i stop the array and reboot back into the bios the hardware clock is off now by like 8:00 hours. Looks like Unraid is changing my Bios Clock? This is not ok because I set my server to boot up at a certain time using the Bios syslog attached... Thanks in advance AJ syslog-2010-03-27.txt
  14. Just bought a pro key tonight and going to try this script etc, Thanks Joe and everyone else AJ
  15. Joe - I guess i was tired when searching, the wiki says the following: How can I get my unRAID server to shut down at the same time every day? Make sure that Power Down (an UnRAID Add On) is installed, then add an at command to your go script, similar to the following, which stops the array and powers down the server at 11PM: echo "/sbin/powerdown" | at 23:00 Question - i downloaded the powerdown-1.02-noarch-unRAID.tgz do i put that file in the main boot of the flash drive? Or does it need to go in a certain folder? The rest seems easy
  16. Hi, The title kind of says it all - I have set my Bios to power on my server at a certain time - IE 5:00pm - but I would like to power off the Unraid server from Unraid not from another pc at a certain time. I have searched and searched i see lots of shutdown scripts for just turning off the server but none on a certain time or day? Anybody have any ideas Thanks AJ
