  1. Hi all, I'm trying to install the optical drive but can't find the value for /dev/sg* . See attachment. How can I make this value visible? Without it MakeMKV of course doesn't see the drive.
  2. Hi all, I'm a new Unraid user and built a server for my movie collection that I'm ripping at the moment. I copied about 90 rips yesterday from ssd drive using BINHEX - KRUSADER. It looks like the copy was successful, but looking at the log file I see some errors that I can't find a solution for on the forum: error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 20 minor 0 serial 502 error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 15 minor 0 serial 503 error 3: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) request 15 minor 0 serial 463882 etc etc. What does this mean and how can I prevent them? I'm using Unraid Version 6.9.2 2021-04-07, Krusader latest version.
  3. Hi all, I finished the built of my first Unraid server for my movies and I'm impressed with Unraid. It's quite intuitive to manage, gives a lot of info and is very flexible. (I'm just getting started. I mainly use the standard settings until now.) The system looks like this: - Asus PRIME Z590-A - Intel Core Intel Core i3 10300 boxed - Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3600 - 7x WD Red Pro, 16TB (incl 2 parity drives) - Samsung 870 Evo 2TB (cache) - Corsair RM550x PSU Everything went well with setting up Unraid. I temp disabled the parity drives (after pausing it first) because I noticed it takes a long time and want to transfer the data first. Copy speed from a windows PC to the share is much faster as expected. Have to test transfer speed by USB drive. I do have a few questions: - What I don't understand is why from every 16TB drive there is already 112GB Used? - Why is the USB drive where Unraid on it shared? -- And where can I find the setting where you can tell what the minimum free space is per disc? - Just to double check: activating the parity drives after copying the files doesn't have any impact on the files on the other drives? Thanks! Theo
  4. I made a decision and ordered these: - Asus PRIME Z590-A - Intel Core Intel Core i3 10300 boxed - Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3600 - 7x WD Red Pro, 16TB (incl 2 parity drives) - Samsung 870 Evo 2TB (cache) - Corsair RM550x PSU Looking forward to built it into the Define 7 XL and start to play with unraid!
  5. No, I don’t. I just wanted to check in case I missed it. Good to hear Unraid works with all common boards. Thanks!
  6. Are there no other things I have to take into account when choosing a motherboard? To go for a certain chipset or avoid one for example?
  7. Hi all! I’m planning to build my first Unraid server for my blu-ray/UHD collection (1350+ discs) that I’m going to rip, so I need a lot of space. The idea is to start with 7-8- discs, including parity & cache disc. I already have a IBM M1015 6Gbps SATA/SAS HBA Controller (IT MODE) for 8 extra Sata connections that I want to use. I will be using the Fractal Design Define 7 XL so I have enough space for future discs. I need some advice on the motherboard/processor. I’ve read about a lot of builds on the forum, but a lot of boards you can’t get properly in Europe, or I think they are a bit over the top for a file server. I have a preference for an Intel based MB. I was thinking an Intel i3 processor will be enough, but it is possible I will move my music to this server too at a certain point, and then I need to be able to run iTunes and some other stuff in probably a windows VM. Not sure what this means hardware wise, so some advice would be helpful. I have seen the Asrock Rack C246 WS https://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=C246 WS#Specifications or Asus PRIME Z590-A https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/PRIME/PRIME-Z590-A/ But perhaps there are other interesting options?
