  3. i just got done upgrading my cache drives and all was fine the array started up with no problems and after teh system rebalanced i then stopped the array and added another disk 24 to the main array and proceeded to start the array and they i see all disks unmountable and now i am freaking out :(. did i lose everything or is this fixable? the array is started with all dockers and vm's working normally. i have not done anything to the system other than stopping the disk-clear for the new disk just added. any help is appreciated thanks James nas-diagnostics-20230313-1201.zip
  4. yes i am passing through the entire pci devices not individual ports and it works fine under 6.9.2. so is virtualizing unraid no longer supported then? Thanks James
  5. Just tried upgrading from 6.9.2 to 6.11 and for some reason it looks like none of my PCI devices are being detected when it boots up because there is no drives or ethernet but I was able to login into the unraid box on 6.11 directly and get the diagnostics. I have provided diagnostics for non working 6.11 (tower-diagnostics-20220928-1303.zip) and the working 6.9.2 (nas-diagnostics-20220929-1146.zip). My motherboard is the Intel Server Board S2600CP2J and the network card is the Intel Pro 1000 server adapter. Is my board too old maybe? Any help is appreciated. Thanks James nas-diagnostics-20220929-1146.zip tower-diagnostics-20220928-1303.zip

  8. Are you running unRAID on bare metal or as a VM under another hypervisor? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk it is running as a vm under vmware esxi v6. Then this is an issue with VMware presenting a virtual floppy disk. This doesn't appear on bare metal. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk this was never a problem with 6.2.4 and i just looked over the settings of the vm and there is no virtual floppy in any of the settings (see attached pic). Try removing the SIO Controller. It's main function is to control the virtual floppy. i tried to remove that SIO controller but is not removable so after a little more digging i did find out that in the bios setting of the vm there was the floppy disk that was enabled so i disabled that and it is all good now. thanks for your help..

  11. i just upgraded from v6.2.4 and it looked like it went normally but when i looked at the logs i started seeing some floppy errors, kinda strange since i don't have any floppy drive in the system. i removed all the plugins and shutdown the plex docker but it still keeps putting the following very minute: Feb 8 19:09:01 NAS kernel: blk_update_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 Feb 8 19:09:01 NAS kernel: floppy: error -5 while reading block 0 Feb 8 19:10:01 NAS kernel: blk_update_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 Feb 8 19:10:01 NAS kernel: floppy: error -5 while reading block 0 Feb 8 19:11:02 NAS kernel: blk_update_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 Feb 8 19:11:02 NAS kernel: floppy: error -5 while reading block 0 Feb 8 19:12:01 NAS kernel: blk_update_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 Feb 8 19:12:01 NAS kernel: floppy: error -5 while reading block 0 Feb 8 19:13:01 NAS kernel: blk_update_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 Feb 8 19:13:01 NAS kernel: floppy: error -5 while reading block 0 i have attached the syslog, any suggestions on how to fix? thanks James nas-syslog-20170208-1915.zip
  12. See the release notes in the first post of this thread about Enable Disk Shares. Sorry just missed that entire section . thanks... thanks James Did you update via Plugin 'Check for Updates'? I updated manually because i am on ESXi v6 and boot with a vmkd hd image with the usb passed through for the configs etc... thanks James

  14. I just upgraded to v6.1 and it all seemed to work fine but now i can't seem to see my disks browsing from the network any longer. i used to be able to see the disks as shares and i could work with the actual files on those disks but now they are not visible. Is there a setting that i need to turn on to see them again? Thanks James
  15. Good news! You can just put your old USB key file on the new drive in the config folder, and it will find the old key and offer to move the license to the new key by emailing it to you. No need to wait on limetech to respond to a support request, it will happen in seconds. yep that is what i did when it booted up it went directly to that screen. pretty slick thanks James
  16. so i just dug up and tried another usb drive and it works fine so looks like my USB drive just failed thanks James
  17. I am running unraid under ESXi 5.5 and just upgraded to Unraid 6 from 5.0.6 and after reformatting my usb drive and booting up with no plugins i noticed that the flash drive takes along time to show anything or nothing. here is a snip of logs and i have the syslog attached as well.. 18. trurl thanks, so how is this for my game plan? Clean up some disk space then let the mover complete moving everything off the cache drive then manually move the folders from the disks directly to the new share (with cache disabled) and the system will spread them out again using the new split level settings. thanks James
  19. yes i see the delima but until i get my current 2 tb drives upgraded to either 3-4TB drives i need to utilize all left over space across all disks not leave them stuck on the cache drive and i believe that the new share with split level 3 will help in spreading out the files/folders and be a better layout as well. thanks James
  20. I am on v5.0.6 and have setup one user share called Movies (split level 2) then under that I put my TV_Shows folder there. Now running low on disk space found out that the cache drive is filling up with TV shows because the disks were the TV show is located is filled to 100% capacity and has zero byte files but the good files are still on the cache drive and work fine. so if i create a share called TV-Movies is there any way to just redirect the folder TV_Shows to the new share? or would i just move them by hand? if i have to move them by hand how would that work being that i have low disk space left (95% used so far) and they are already on the array across different disks? thanks James
  21. I received my board yesterday and installed it and so far it all came up fine and all good so i started a parity check and it is going at the same speed as my old board (35mbs) so from the looks it will be ok, now for vmware . so this weekend i plan to install my BRi10 controller to mirror the ESXi drives for vmware install/datastore then pass my 2 AOC-SASLP-MV8 controllers and motherboard ports to unraid and hopefully all will be fine thanks James
  22. BobPhoenix thanks for the info, i don't plan on any multimedia type cards in there only to use it to consolidate and host my unraid, exchange server and domain controller. later down the line I maybe will look at a xmbc shared database server. I just wanted to make sure before dropping about $900 for everything since i have not used tyan boards before. thanks James
