2x Efficient 250W passive Power Supplies
Usually highly regarded, but no tests around. Added another option I had found.

Random server restarts (IO Wait setting?) No C states.
Reset CMOS, 5 beeps have gone away? Could a bios setting cause this?

Random server restarts (IO Wait setting?) No C states.
Ram changed to non ECC, 1 stick, tried 2 different slots and a new PSU - still get 2x 5 beeps at boot.

2x Efficient 250W passive Power Supplies
Any reason why no one mentions this PSU? https://hdplex.com/hdplex-fanless-250w-gan-aio-atx-psu.html I just installed one, coming from an EVGA 650GM to this dropped a 20 watt idle to 11. They have a pico type variant which always seems to be out of stock. Edited to add this as another option. https://streacom.com/products/zf240-fanless-psu/

Random server restarts (IO Wait setting?) No C states.
Processor changed to a Pentium gold, MB cable extension removed, still get 2 lots of 5 beeps at startup. Still boots and runs fine.

Upon a restart, the MB just threw 2 lots of 5 beeps at me but still booted. No reference to what the beeps mean in the manual, but google suggests it is a CPU related error. https://www.advantech.com/en-eu/support/details/manual?id=1-1MMAIHV

Reduce power consumption with powertop
I've gone back to the first config above. Nothing connected but changed the PSU for an HDPLEX 250W passive GaN AIO ATX Power Supply. C246 board/Xeon E-2174G/2x ECC/USB stick/1 fan. Idles at around 11 watts now, but still 0% on all C states. But it seems to now be giving me 2 lots of 5 beeps at boot. CMOS Reset seemed to fix this one. Unsure which setting gave that beeping error. Edit: New CMOS battery seems to have fixed this one. C states still aren't working with different pentium CPU, PSU or non ECC ram.

There's the log for a minute behind the unclean shutdown

So swap out hardware untill it stops doing it? I did enable logging with the last board, is there anything I can check in there to help?- Random server restarts (IO Wait setting?) No C states.
Completed a new build I'm trying to get setup but it seems to randomly restart occasionally. Shouldn't be a power issue, it has a 650 watt running 200 max. Although I have a new unit coming to test. System was reliable on a Gigabyte C246, needed Matx, tried a ASRock Rack e3c246d4u2-2t, turned out faulty, crashed one day and wouldn't get into bios. Latest restart seemed to happen when a clients screen was turned on. How do I diagnose this? One bios option I wasn't sure about was "IO wait redirection" Could this have anything to do with it? Also struggling to achieve any C states on the HW PKG.- CPU usage not showing in top
- Reduce power consumption with powertop
I've just got a new motherboard. Changed all the settings in the bios power settings. Aspm is enabled (also says this is OS controlled ASPM), C state settings enabled, and disabled what I'm not using in the bios, powertop has been run and is all on good. It is idling at 20watts but C2-C10 on the pkg(hw) is 0. Double checked they are enabled in the bios, but it seems C states for the pkg is not working? C246 board/Xeon E-2174G/2x ECC/EVGA 650GM/USB stick/1 fan. Edit: 4x 2.5" SSDs and 2x 2.5" HDs and its up to 64Watts with the array not running. Edit 2: NVME added via PCIE adaptor, no change. Edit 3: Added: 15 3.5" drives, an SF750 to run them, LSI HBA, SAS expander, 3 fans - 204watts. Most drives spun down - 106 watts. Edit 4: 10Gb intel X540 added, onboard ethernet disabled. About 116 watts but one drive won't and 3 SSDs won't spin down. Now seen it go as low as 78 watts with 1 drive and 3 SSDs still running. Still no C states though. Screenshots added below.- 10Gbe and lower c states
Thanks. So if a switch isn't in the equation and they aren't being used, what do they add to the idle power consumption? Is there any difference between C state achieved on the x520, 540 and 550? The X550 is PCIE 3 x8. If I put this in a x1, will it still achieve 1GB is one port is used at a time? PCIE3 x1 limit is 10GB/s.- 10Gbe and lower c states
Trying to setup 10Gbe, but considering power consumption. I have 3 devices that need connecting to each other and a switch with only 2 10 Gbe ports and to hand an X520, X540, X550, all RJ45 2 port, but also an SFP Broadcom 57810/Dell 0N20KJ which are cheap on ebay. Do all of these reach lower power states? Many state idle power consumption for the cards, but I've also read someone tried an X520 and it didn't increase idle power consumption as it wasn't being used. Is that the case with all the Intel cards? It'll only consume power when being used? The main question is whether it'd be worth shelling out for 2 other SFP cards and cables. Considering ditching the 10gbe switch, connecting the 3 devices directly to each other with the intel card and using the 1gbe to connect to the network which hopefully mean they only use power when they get used.- How to extract .part rar files on the array?
Can anyone advise on this? Most google results suggest doing it in command line which I'd like to avoid.- How to extract .part rar files on the array?
As it stands, I can right click in krusader, browse the archive and if it is one file inside, ie an iso, it extracts from the rest easy, but if it has multiple files it seems to only extract thee first part. How can I extract all the files from all the parts at once?- [Support] Josh5 - Steam (Headless)
I've got an issue with this, it installs, I open VNC, log in but steam doesn't show despite being open. If I right click it'll show the right click menu and this changes depending on where the cursor is on the screen but it just shows the desktop. Tried many restarts and open/reopen. It comes up on other devices as available. - Random server restarts (IO Wait setting?) No C states.
