  1. Not sure what the PlugIn does behind the scenes but is it possible to allow one or the other of these as options? Depending upon which one you are not using for your Aging logic? recycle:touch = BOOL Specifies whether a file's access date should be updated when the file is moved to the repository. recycle:touch_mtime = BOOL Specifies whether a file's last modified date should be updated when the file is moved to the repository. https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/manpages/vfs_recycle.8.html
  2. Or changing allocation to Most Free would start writing to the new disk until the free space gets to another disks free space then it will start writing between them
  3. Thanks for all the advice. Guess I have some reading to do.
  4. Recently converted from v5 to v6 and loving it. My question though would be what are the Pros/Cons when deciding between a Docker and a Plugin that provides the same functionality?
  5. I had to find a file to undelete. I notice that the dates (accessed/modified/created) are all for the date/time the file was deleted. Is there an option to retain the original date modified or created? #vfs_recycle_start #Recycle bin configuration [global] syslog only = No log level = 0 vfs:0 #vfs_recycle_end
  6. I have a VMWare Player VM I would like to convert to run in unRAID VM. It has 3 vmdk disks which I did convert to raw. but I have no clue on what is needed for the manual xml file when you do Custom VM. The VMWare files do include vmsd, vmx, vmxf and a nvram file. I assume one of those have the info needed for the xml file? Any easy method to convert/create the xml file? Or since the VM runs SLES 11, do you think the OpenSUSE template might work? This is a data warehouse setup (Teradata) that I want to play around at home, mainly going thru various system related break/fix scenarios
  7. Great. Working properly also. CA still showed it as Up to Date but removed and reinstalled and now showing version 2017.04.23d and working properly. Greatly appreciated
  8. Active Streams (version 2016.09.13 which shows up to date) - On 6.3.3 it gets Tower root: error: update.php: missing csrf_token error when trying to put a name to an IP address and does not save the name which hittig Apply
  9. I get this error when Tools => Active Streams => User Names When I put text (so I know what PC) in the User Name box for an IP then hit Apply, I get the following each time. Recently upgraded (clean upgrade) from V5 Apr 22 18:20:31 Tower root: error: update.php: missing csrf_token Apr 22 18:20:44 Tower root: error: update.php: missing csrf_token
  10. Thinking I might have some sporadic networking lagging issues and not sure if it is one of the switches I have or not. Power cycling the switches (main and 3 others in other rooms) sometimes improves it for awhile but comes back. Networking is not a strong point for me but willing to learn. Are there any tools to help troubleshoot networking issues? Other than replacing the switches and then "wait and see", any tools to test them out? Any help/guidance would be appreciated
  11. Any guides on going from ESXi with VMs back to unRAID with VMs? Currently ESXi 5.0, unRAID 5.0.5, plus several VMs Been ages since did the setup, not sure how to recreate it. Thinking of going Bare Metal unRAID 6 with the VMs under that but have no clue on how to convert my current VMs under ESXi to run under unRAID (KVM?) Any advice would be appreciated.
  12. Currently running ESXi (5.0) with multiple VMs to include unRaid 5.0.5 Are there any guides for moving from ESXi to base unRaid 6 and having the VMs there? Been ages since I set it up or done anything with it but I need to get to the newer version and maybe implement better warning systems/maintenance checks.
  13. Duplicating a 4TB drive with dd dd if=/dev/sdi of=/dev/sdh bs=1M conv=noerror Anyway for me to check status/progress? Any estimates on how long it should take? Been running about 12 hrs so far. Also, how do you get ddrescue onto unRaid and run it. Trying to find a HOWTO for it in the forums without luck unRaid 5.0.5
  14. unRaid 5.0.5 Power issue and once brought Sage back up, looks like issue with Parity Drive and a Data Drive When looking at bad Data Disk, do not see a Partition, only see the drive (/dev/sdh but no /dev/sdh1) So I can't run reiserfsck Any advice? Had to bring the array up for the other data, so did new config without the bad data drive or parity drive
  15. I'll PM them but obviously my e-mails are getting thru otherwise I would not be getting the auto-response e-mails.
  16. Followed directions at https://lime-technology.com/replace-key/ Sent e-mail 7/23/2016 - no response other than automated e-mail Sent follow up e-mail 7/28/2016 - no response other than automated e-mail Let me know if the following info is incorrect or what I need to do to get the replacement key Replacement Procedure (unRAID 5) Obtaining a replacement key for unRAID 5 is a manual process handled via email: Obtain a new quality USB flash device (see here for some recommendations). Restore a complete backup of your previous flash device to the new device or download and install unRAID Server OS 5, then boot up. Click on the ‘flash’ share on the webGui Main page. Select/copy/paste the Flash GUID displayed there and send an email requesting a replacement key to [email protected]. Please include in your email the GUID of your old USB Flash device for which the key is replacing. If you have any difficulties performing the key replacement process, please contact [email protected].
  17. ok. I can see the files in /boot now. Did the following (from other posts dealing with "directory bread" issues) 1. umount /boot -l 2. mount -o noatime,nodiratime,umask=0,shortname=mixed -t vfat /dev/sdv1 /boot Able to see the files now. Next steps: 1. Copy files to another location 2. Find my 2nd unRaid licensed flash drive 3. Copy config files to 2nd unRaid flash drive 4. Check motherboard docs to determine USB type I have it plugged into 5. Shutdown unRaid 6. Replace flash drive 7. Bring up unRaid and let Parity Check run After that: 1. Run checkdisk on old flash drive 2. Get 2 other flash drives 3. Submit new guid to activate the 3rd license I had bought in the past 4. Request a replacement license for the failing flash drive (if checkdisk shows issues)
  18. Could I pull the Flash Drive while unRaid is still up, run checkdisk on it or see if the files remain prior to shutdown? Collecting screenshots. Any way to pull the current SMB settings since can not see the config files? #1 item after getting back to normal....set up regular backups/tars of /boot drive I guess. Found an old backup but I know there are scripts missing and made a SMB config change since then
  19. Went to update a script and found the /boot directory is empty. Unraid is still up and running. I have the following in the syslog Nov 1 08:28:14 Tower kernel: fat__get_entry: 6 callbacks suppressed Nov 1 08:28:14 Tower kernel: FAT-fs (sda1): Directory bread(block 32768) failed What info should I grab before trying to reboot unRaid in case the USB is gone? Any suggestions on recovering the info on the USB?
  20. I have noticed on my system that cache_dirs seems to die about every 4-6 hours. How do I know this? I have a script that checks if cache_dirs is running, and if not, starts it again. #!/bin/bash while [ true ]; do RUNNING=`ps -ef | grep cache_dirs | grep -v grep | grep -v check_cache_dirs.sh | wc 21. Tom - Will there eventually be a "Check for Update" (or something like that) button for the WebGUI?
  22. It's quite easy to do yourself. -Stop unraid (power down) -with another (not running at this moment) windows VM on the machine: -- edit the windows machine settings and add a hard disk -- select existing vmk, and select the unraid vmk -boot this windows VM, you'll see it has an extra drive/HD -copy all files from the unraid vmk to a backup place -copy bzimage, bzroot, make_bootable.bat, memtest, menu.c32, syslinux.cfg & syslinux.exe to this unraid vmk (16c files off course). -stop (shutdown) the windows VM -edit the settings of the windows VM to remove the unraid vmk - pull the unraid flash drive and put the 16c Zeron VMtools .tgz file on the flash drive (/extra dir), remove any other VMtools package from the flash drive (.plg and/or .tgz file) - copy bzimage, bzroot, make_bootable.bat, memtest, menu.c32, syslinux.cfg & syslinux.exe to the flash drive (16c files off course), backup old files on flash drive first. start the unraid VM (in viclient so you see what is happening) if unraid does not start (does not display the unraid boot menu), then you need to run make_bootable.bat -do the above again until the vmk is visible in the windows VM -run make_bootable.bat (as admin) -if it complains (no removeable drive, use -f option), change "%~d0\syslinux -ma %~d0" into "%~d0\syslinux -fma %~d0" and run make_bootable.bat again (as admin) -shut down the windows VM and remove the unraid vmk -now unraid should boot... Warning : This is all from memory, did it a week ago I did similar recently but I did have to remove the vmk hard disk from the unRaid VM before bringing up the Windows VM and then later readd the vmk hard disk back to unRaid VM.
  23. running the following script in background so that I can get a better feel of what is happening and how frequent. #!/bin/bash while [ true ]; do RUNNING=`ps -ef | grep cache_dirs | grep -v grep | grep -v check_cache_dirs.sh | wc -l` if [ ${RUNNING} -eq 0 ] ; then free -l >> /var/log/syslog /boot/scripts/cache_dirs -p 200 -i Specials -i UnArchived -i FanArt fi sleep 600 done at least this way, when cache_dirs dies, I start up another one (within 10 mins) and put to syslog the output from free -l
  24. A little more info. Did not show up in syslog but did on the screen. cache_dirs had been running approx 3.5 hrs at this failure /boot/scripts/cache_dirs: xmalloc: execute_cmd.c:3599: cannot allocate 72 bytes (901120 bytes allocated) /boot/scripts/cache_dirs: line 449: [: : integer expression expected /boot/scripts/cache_dirs: xmalloc: execute_cmd.c:578: cannot allocate 305 bytes (901120 bytes allocated) Line 449 is the IF statement num_dirs=`find /mnt/disk[1-9]* /mnt/cache -type d -maxdepth 0 -print 2>/dev/null|wc -l` if [ "$num_dirs" -eq 0 ] then # array is not started, sleep and look again in 10 seconds. sleep 10 continue fi
