i have 3 case fans connected to 2 pwm connectors (2x Front on Sys_Fan3/ 1x Rear at Sys_Fan1). the plugin shows 5 pwm controllers. i guess one of them is the CPU_Fan which i want to be controlled by the motherboard. Do you have a tipp for me how i can identify what's what?

Also ich betreibe neben Plex einen Arr Stack und 1-2 kleinere Spielereien. Ich würde mir gerne ein paar Optionen offen halten bzw. lieber ein paar Euro mehr in die Hand nehmen und dafür länger Ruhe haben. Ein kleines bisschen Overkill darf es ruhig sein 😅

Jetzt, da alles (außer transcoding) reibungslos läuft, denke ich darüber nach, meinem UnRAID-Server ein dauerhaftes Zuhause zu geben. Es muss weder ein High-End-System sein, noch muss es bis zur letzten Nachkommastelle optimiert werden. Mein Ziel ist ein solides Mittelklasse-System, das in der Lage ist, 3–5 Streams (Audio/Video) zu transkodieren und ein paar Jahre ohne Upgrade auskommt. Nach einiger Recherche bin ich bisher auf folgende Komponenten gekommen und hoffe auf Eure Expertenmeinung. CPU: Intel i5-13400 -oder- i5-13500 Intel Core i3-14100 CPU-Kühler: (offen für Vorschläge) Mainboard: ASRock Z690 Extreme (DDR4) -oder- ASRock Z790 Pro RS (DDR5) *Steel Legend Varianten?! (wegen der 8x onBoard-SATA-Anschlüsse) RAM: 32GB KIT DDR4 -oder- 32GB KIT DDR5 Empfehlungen wären hier sehr willkommen, da ich unsicher bin was die optimale Taktrate und Latenz für Intel-CPUs ist. 2x32gb ddr4-3200 Cache-Pool-Laufwerke: 2x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe o.Ä. Datenlaufwerke: 2x Toshiba Cloud-Scale Capacity MG09ACA 16TB Ich werde vermutlich nach und nach weitere Laufwerke hinzufügen, aber ich denke, die 8 SATA-Anschlüsse werden für meine Anforderungen mehr als ausreichend sein. HBA (Optional): ASM1166 Gehäuse: (offen für Vorschläge) Netzteil: be quiet! BN341 Folgende Fragen treiben mich zusätzlich um: -alle beantwortet- 1. DDR4 oder DDR5 System? Die meisten scheinen DDR4 zu nutzen, wieso? 2. reichen 32gb ram oder gleich auf 64gb? 3. Warum wird oft die "Steel Legend" Variante bei den ASRock Boards vorgeschlagen? Was rechtfertigt den Mehrpreis? 4. Passen die Komponenten zueinander oder habe ich etwas übersehen? Vielen Dank im Voraus!

Any specific reason for the "steel legend" version instead of the cheaper "pro rs" variant w/o WiFi?

Hi there, a couple of weeks ago i started a little pet project plex media server with ancient hardware i found in my basement. Not that everything (except transcoding) works like charm, i think about giving my unraid server a more permanent home. It doesn't need to be a high end system nor does it need to be MinMaxed down to the last decimal. I'm aiming for a solid base mid-tier system which is able to transcode 3-5 streams (audio/video) and will run a couple of years without needing to upgrade. After a lot of reading i came up with the following components so far and hope that some of you experts could help me decide and fill in the blanks. Down to business: CPU: Intel i5-13400 -or- i5-13500 CPU-Cooler (open for suggestions) Motherboard: ASRock Z690 Extreme (DDR4) -or- ASRock Z790 Pro RS (DDR5) Because of the 8x SATA onboard RAM: 32gb KIT DDR4 -or- 32gb KIT DDR5 recommendations would highly be appreciated because I'm at a loss here what's the sweet spot clock- and latency-wise for intel Cache Pool Drives: 2x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB NVMe Data Drives: 2x Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB (1x Data/1x Parity, already obtained) i will probably add more drives gradually, but i think the 8 SATA ports will be more than enough for my needs. i can't make it work..... i do have plex pass and followed your instructions although i have linuxserver's plex docker i can mount the drivers and choose the GPU profile in Plex, but the gpu utilization isn't much. (max 4% for a second or so). any ideas?
