  1. Awesome I was just about to set this up on ym 10gb swtich as I have 2 10gb ports i didnt know what to do with
  2. Well not true - Spaceinvader has released a video on how to do this and "scatter" the data over the array then format the disk without losing anything or breaking parity. I have completed 3 disks so far for no other reason than to future proof for more zfs related features been used in my array (also compression) as my server is a 13th gen i7 with decent memory ZFS extra overhead is not a problem.
  3. So I can see my unraid log files slowly filling up 6% now and if I investigate the log directly the only one i see growing large is "unraid-api". I have attached diagnostics for further investigation. svr-hme-01-diagnostics-20230511-1136.zip
  4. I have a i7 13700 with RX 7900XT in it. I use the iGPU for transcoding and 7900xt in a VM. After some tuning I now get similar performance as my bare metal 5800x3d. Was ALOT of mucking around/tuning. I have assigned all P cores other than 0-1HT but would be nice to pin Unraid to E-Cores and use those 2 P cores in the VM seems like a waste of processing power. Now wondering if its worth pinning some e-cores to VM but not sure if they will be used correctly or not. To be honest maybe ill just leave as is until the build is stable/working. Now to sell my 5800x3d RIG with RTX 3070 :P. Using the latest 6.12rc4 build with the 6.1 Linux Kernel was key to getting it all going. I am in no means an "intel" guy I always buy AMD but the iGPU transcoding means i could remove my T600 Quadro and sell my RTX 3070. I have tested AV1 transcodes on plex too and it works fine with iGPU so future proofed there. So big win for my first intel build since Gen 1 Ryzen. If i was to build a new baremetal system it be a 7800x3d all day.
  5. I have been trying for a few hours now all the combos - my situation is i need the iGPU for transcodes and if i turn CSM on then i cant have the igpu in multi monitor mode bois wont even post. It takes away the "set primary GPU" option and then wont post. Why is it so difficult to passthrough an 7900xt? I just did a google looks like you need linux kernal 6.+ - looks like i need to upgrade from 6.11 to 6.12 rc4 To get my 7900xt working I had to do a few things. 1) Disable SAM (asrock z790) 2) Had to add vbios from Techpowerup 3) Update to 6.12rc4 for new Linux kernel (has amd support for 7000 series) 4) add to vm xml <features> <acpi/> <apic/> <hyperv mode='custom'> <relaxed state='on'/> <vapic state='on'/> <spinlocks state='on' retries='8191'/> <vendor_id state='on' value='1234567890ab'/> </hyperv> <kvm> <hidden state='on'/> </kvm> Go to settings for your Windows VM, and enable XML view in the upper right corner. We will need to edit 2 blocks: add the following to <hyperv mode='custom'> block <vpindex state='on'/> <synic state='on'/> <stimer state='on'/> add the following to <clock offset='localtime'> block <timer name='hypervclock' present='yes'/> Few things I set while testing but have not turned on/off yet 1) Not legacy boot as I need igpu to run in unraid as primary for transcodes 2) have turned on PCIE override to both 3) Allow unsafe interrupts I now get similar performance as my baremetal 5800x3d did. pretty happy with that.
  6. I have just switched from a Ryzen 9 5950x to an i7 13700 due to quick sync and power usage. I am now using about half the power at Idle with the ability to still get great performance. Really impressive how efficent the new CPU is with QuickSync for plex - also decodes Av1 I have tested and works brilliantly. Not normally an Intel person but for this use case with Unraid it works very nicely. I will put putting my RX 7900 xt into it which is currently in my 5800x3d windows bare metal rig and if it performs well be selling that rig with a RTX3070 and pocketing some cash. If not I will build a 7800x3d gaming rig eventually. So far more than impressed with Intel on Unraid mainly for power/quicksync. Really just putting this here incase someone finds it and is thinking of doing something similar. There was nothing "wrong" with the 5950x other than having to put a GPU just for transcoding.
  7. Yeah currently on my lets call "prod" PC (not xeon just AMD ryzen) I have two cache pools i use for speed with things like Docker and VMs set to prefer. Its all good but i was hoping to avoid this and just use the Array. OK that answers my question - the ZFS ARC Caching seems to work well with read speeds on data accessed alot anyway. This server is about to double in memory to about 500gb so should have plent there for ZFS to use. In this way Docker and VM's should be loaded into memory with a copy on the array - this should be fast right?
  8. I have a Dell PE R630 with 256gb of ECC Memory and 2x Xeons (48cores) I am testing with as a second unraid box with 6.12rc2. What I want to acheive with ZFS is running an array of SSD as i only have 8x 2.5" bays and would like to run with no cache pools. ZFS i understand can trim SSD arrays fine. Will this now be a supported config on Unraid or should i go 5400rpm 2.5" and 2 SSD Cache drives (not what i want). Many Thanks.
  9. Ah yes - I was just going down that route. I had some x16gb sticks I got from work that I was using and just ordered some new x16gb sticks as I was starting to think its memory as they were older DIMMs. Damn it thought i had a free upgrade but thinking about it more and more the issues started happening when this memory was installed. I actually have some ECC memory I can get from work at some point but its been in servers 24/7 for years so unsure its worth it. Should i just run the memory at stock speeds with no profile set? EDIT: Solved - mem test showed errors. Like above new mem on the way - will set memory to what unraid supprots MT/S
  10. I do not know why I am having issues with unraid. I am on the latest version new system. I have had shares drop out and rebooting fixes it now I had docker fail and had to restore from backup. Diagnostics attached. diagnostics-20221130-1447.zip
  11. I have this issue where my shares disappear every now and then and rebooting is a problem when i run my NVR on a VM. Really cant find a solution on these forums.
  12. Upgraded to 6.11.3 and it went well but now I lost all of the Shares. A reboot fixed it but this worries me. Also, my Windows 11 vm with gpu passthrough is working as normal but then suddenly crashes and reboots. I had to re-create the VM last time. So few funky things happening.
  13. Hello, My W11 VM keeps rebooting i thought it was GPU passthrough but looks like it with no GPU as well (1080 ti). I have a W10 VM running for my BlueIris server but no reboots there. I just changed template from Q35 to i440fx the same as W10. Hardare Bios set to legacy Server is a Ryzen 9 5950x 64gb of Trident Memory only 2800mhz CL 14 stuff (had 16gb sticks). ASUS Crosshair Viii Hero MB NVME Cache for VMs 2 SSD Sata for Cache for Docker 8 HDD for array. SOLVED: Changing it to i440fx seems to have stopped it rebooting
