  1. okay now I come back two hours later and one (older server) is back to 100 Network: eth0: 100Mb/s - Full Duplex
  2. hmmmm.... found newest server was plugged into the FIOS modem switch (must be 100 mbs?). Plugging that into main GB switch brought it up to speed. Swapped cables on the other older server and it shows 1000 now too.
  3. Just completed upgrades to two unRaid boxes from 4.7 to 5. Everything went smoothly except I have been bitten by the Realtek NIC bug. Both have mobos with Realtek LAN built-in. Both are showing Network: eth0: 100Mb/s - Full Duplex. I assume I had gigabit before with 4.7 but maybe not ? ASUS M4A785-M with 8112L Biostar A880GZ with 8111E Rather than hassle with these on again off again drivers, can anyone recommend known good NICs that I can stuff in there and get proper network speed?
  4. (2x) 3ware CBL-SFF8087OCR-05M 0.5m Multi-lane Internal SFF-8087 Serial ATA Reverse Breakout Cable bought the wrong cables (these are REVERSE). Can't return them to newegg as it it fubar my 12 months no interest $20 for the pair and I will pay shipping? PayPal works for me. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816116100
  5. moved to correct sub forum http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=29041.0
  6. Replaced (3x) COOLER MASTER STB-3T4-E3-GP 4-in-3 with (3x) these new iStarUSA BPU-350SATA-RED 5-in-3 cages. Added two more 2TB drives for a total of 12. The remaining 3 slots are empty but connected to SAS card; just add drives! Almost all positive feedback for these except for now my cabling is all a mess (lol). Glad I procrastinated long enough for these to come to market
  7. I have never heard of any limitation for showing exposed shares on a network. I'm no expert but I can see all my user shares and shared drives under Network (Win 7). For example, 22 x 1TB user shares on another windows box (HTPC). I'm not using shares on the unRaid box and all 6 drives show.
  8. Thanks for the compliments. You are one of the giants on whose shoulders I stand.
  9. It connects to any USB 2.0 header on the motherboard. Just converts it to 2 USB inputs same as if you used wires to an external bracket. Should work with any motherboard. Just make sure you have clearance for the USB key once it's installed.
  10. "We stand on the shoulders of giants." US Budget build using Asus M4A785-M. USB header adapter is the Koutech USB 2.0 Header-Pin to Dual Type-A adapter Model IO-UU220. I blocked the side air vents with a standard manila envelope containing a printout of the drive serial numbers and port assignments. All jumpered EARS except 4 & 5 which are left over WD EADS 1TB from the Hammer NAS this replaces. Next door is my Dell T105 running W2K8 (office file server). Direct access to either via KVM.
