  1. Ok I was able to pair Remote with the iTunes server, without iTunes. Here's how to do it : Pairing with Remote on iPod/iPhone ---------------------------------- forked-daapd can be paired with Apple's Remote application for iPod/iPhone; this is how the pairing process works: - start forked-daapd - start Remote, go to Choose Library, Add Library - prepare a text file with a filename ending with .remote; the filename doesn't matter, only the .remote ending does. This file must contain two lines: the first line is the name of your iPod/iPhone, the second is the 4-digit pairing code displayed by Remote. If your iPod/iPhone is named "Foobar" and Remote gives you the pairing code 5387, the file content will be: Foobar 5387 - move this file somewhere in your library At this point, you should be done with the pairing process and Remote should display the name of your forked-daapd library. You can delete the .remote file once the pairing process is done. Now two things to mention : 1) As output, you'll have the choice between Airplay compatible devices and %h, which is Tower. Tower is selected by default but will obviously not work. You have to select an Airplay device. Outputting to iPhone via Remote will not work that's clear. 2) Outputting to an Airplay device worked for me but only the first 5 seconds. Then playback stopped. I always got these errors: [2012-05-17 17:00:00] dacp: Could not find requested property 'dacp.fullscreen' [2012-05-17 17:00:00] dacp: Could not find requested property 'dacp.visualizerenabled' [2012-05-17 17:00:00] dacp: Could not find requested property 'dacp.visualizer I think the requested property should simply be disabled (not requested) in order to stream properly. Let's wait for speeding_ant for updates on this topic
  2. Hi! Installed your plugin without any issue. Now I think someone should make a proper explanation on how this plugin can actually do. Most users will probably try to send music from Unraid to an AirPlay devices via their iPhone/iPad, personally I wasn't able to do this. Tower Media perfectly appears in iTunes and playback is flawless. I was able to access Unraid's music on my iPhone with Home Sharing disabled, now that I have enable Home Sharing I'm only seeing iTunes library, no more Tower Media. Tried via iPod's Share and Apple Remote. What I'm expecting from an iTunes server is that it's accessible from any iDevices without iTunes open. Is this feasible right now with your plugin? How to proceed? Thanks a lot.
  3. Interesting! Have you tried to write to unRAID server using NFS for Windows?
  4. To start unMENU at launch, you need to edit your go file. Adding the two following lines should do the trick : cd /boot/unmenu /uu To automatically mount your array, there's an option to tick in unRAID's menu. I thinks it's in Disk Settings...
  5. I followed your guide but in the end I wasn't able to do what I was planning to. The iPhone app couldn't detect my Airport Express device, so streaming music to it wasn't possible. Moreover it was a pain in the ass to install and configure Twonky on the unRAID side. By the way, I can confirm that the start and stop unMENU scripts don't show up, at least with 5b14. But thank you for your guide. I'll stick with AirVideo for video streaming and iPhone to Airport Express for music streaming (and so forgetting about streaming my entire library).
  6. Thanks. I verified myself and you're right as for the differences. Not sure though they will translate into increased real-world performances.
  7. Can someone explain to me why this model is not shown on Supermicro's website? Moreover I can't find it in my country (even though Supermicro is not well distributed, it's strange). What are the differences with the previous model (the previous one is available here in Switzerland)?
  8. Excellent. I didn't know that was possible. I'll give Twonky a shot. Thanks!
  9. Thanks to both of you for recommanding to move/moving my post.
  10. Just wait for a stable 5.x and stop whining. Do you have ever see a "stable" version of a software without bugs? No. Tom's now working to stabilize 5.x, no point to go back to 4.x and release a new build. You know the bug, deal with it.
  11. Allow me to post here because I haven't found a clear answer on the forums... I'm looking to build a cheap music network and after having looked at Sonos (cheap I said, forget it...), Logitech & co. I'm now evaluating the possibility offered by Airport Express devices. Is there any way to stream music stored on my unRAID server to my amplifier if the latter is connected to an Airport Express device (which in turn is connected to the same network as unRAID)? Is this feasable to control the streaming via my iPhone? Afterwards if I add another Airport Express in my bedroom, connect it to a Hifi system, would I be able to switch the stream to the bedroom or stream in the living and in the bedroom at the same time? Sorry but this is pretty confusing to me. If I use my PC and iTunes, I know everything's fine but I want to be able to stream even if my PC is shutdown. unRAID will always be up. Thanks.
  12. Are you running some kind of P2P software on your server? Such as a BitTorrent client...
  13. Got the same CPU and was pretty astonished to see that it's capable of transcoding Blu-ray on-the-fly to an iPhone with AirVideo, subtitles included. Good choice dude.
  14. From here, it's pretty tough to help you. I would suggest a very simple test in order to check if your problem lies in your unRAID server : simply transfer a test file between two computers over your network. Both computers should be connected via ethernet (no wifi). Do the test in both ways : PC 1 to PC 2 and PC 2 to PC 1. What are the speeds you get?
  15. No you won't benefit from any improvement by setting a link aggregation. Considering the speed you got, you're probably limited by your array, not by your network.
  16. I have one of those 3200AAKS. Performance is ok but not stellar. I personally use a Samsung HD320GJ (1 platter of 320GB, high density per platter). This drive is capable of excellent read and write performance. SSD would be overkill, the bottleneck sits in the network. You would hardly be able to use more than 90-95% of your Gbit link even though your cache disk could write as hell. For your speed problem, cables don't matter. It seems to me that unRAID may recognize your NIC as 100Mbps. What's your motherboard model? Also as mentioned, you can't judge transfer speeds if the source (your eSATA drive) is accessed at the same time from other devices. You should turn everything off and try again. Now with 6-10MB/s, it's not a cache drive issue... What kind of drive delivers such poor performance?! My 5-year old 3200AAKS can do 100MB/s... Please provide an unRAID log so we can clear if your link is really running at Gbit speed.
  17. I also experienced the disappearance of subtitles once. Using Tvix and NFS as well. I was running b13.
  18. I'm also very interested if someone manages to make link aggregation works with the last beta. Also what kind of router do you need? Does it have to be server grade router? Because I can't find "Private Customer" router that supports LA. Or at least it's not explicitly mentioned...
  19. This is pretty low but you're transferring chain is not optimal e.g. it's sub-optimal (I wanted to use this word, sorry). What you should do is trying to copy some files from your eSATA HDD to one of your PC's internal HDD (report the speed here) then copy these same files from your PC's internal HDD to unRAID server (again report the speed here). I'm assuming you're using Samba to transfer the files (and not SMB2). But considering your speed, it might be possible that your network is capped to 100Mbit (which have a theoretical bandwidth of 12.5MB/s). In this case, something on your network is not Gbit compliant.
  20. Prices of HDD have abusively increased following thai floods... WTF?! Why did everyone produces HDD in there? It's actually pretty problematic as I'm not going to buy 1 disk for the price of 3...
  21. I'm only using NFS for streaming with my media player though...
  22. Personnaly I experienced no change regarding NFS when upgrading from 12a to 13. However I don't know about previous version performances.
  23. That is your browser trying to help you out. Hold the shift button on your keyboard and then hit the browser refresh button. Might have to do it a couple of times. Somehow it's fixed now. I don't know how much time the plugin needs in order to start properly but after some time, it was displayed properly. Thanks.
  24. I have a problem for a couple of days... I recently upgraded to b13, everything was fine. I then downgraded to b12a. Now the interface is inbetween unRAID and Simple Features... I tried reinstalling the package but it's the same. Have a look at the screenshot I attached.
