  1. It could be like trying to find a needle in a haystack, the differences between the two hypervisors are many from the little I have read about the hypervisor in UnRaid. I see a few things that jump out, maybe they are nothing... <vmtemplate name="Custom" icon="windows98.png" os="windowsxp"/> Why windows XP? <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-2.3'>hvm</type> Windows 98 was 16 bit, XP came in 32 and 64 bit versions.. not sure if this matters. Im am familiar with virtualization and VMWare, just not the hypervisor in UnRaid, so sorry I can't be of anymore help.
  2. Very interesting, so I assume you have the drives setup in JBOD and not any hardware RAID? I wonder if all Asustor NAS's can support UnRaid?
  3. So if I want to pre clear a drive currently connected to my Areca, I should plug it into an onboard SATA port to pre clear it then?
  4. Does that mean that while a drive is connected to an Areca card, we can't pre clear it without moving it to an onboard SATA port?
  5. I am new to UnRaid, I just built my server yesterday in fact and I am trying to get the pre clear working, however a pop up shows up every time I try to use the plugin and is asking for a Yes or No prompt and I cannot seem to figure out how to enter Yes so the pre clear will continue. Do I need to modify the script or something? I am not terribly proficient with Linux but could probably do it. Thanks AM
  6. I would like to setup a server using Unraid with a combination of an Areca 1261ML and onboard SATA ports with 24 disks in total, 16 on the Areca and the rest onboard. Would I set the Areca up in JBOD or RAID 0? Also would I need to do special things to the config as discussed in this thread to make it work with the Areca?
