  2. has anyone had issues using this with google chrome? it looks the way it should in safari, but in chrome i get a blue background and objects arnt where they should be
  3. Disabling unraid web did the trick, booted up and all is fine thanks again
  4. Yes i do actually, i will try uninstalling it and go from there. thanks for your help!
  5. Hi, Ive just upgraded from 4.7 to 5beta8c I replaced the bzroot and bzimage files and deleted, config/passwd and config/smbpasswd Now unraid will boot, however the webgui seems to be corrupt, i can access unmenu, but i still cannot see the normal unraid page. Attached is a screenshot and syslog. Has anyone seen this before? Regards - Brett syslog.txt
  6. Has anyone been able to get Downpour going on Unraid?
  7. Hi Joe, yes as per instructions for hdat i completely removed power from the disk (disconnected power cable) after each operation the sad thing is, i still have another 3 discs in the same situation (with hpa), i might just leave them for the time being...
  8. Hi all, thought i would give an update So i removed 1 of my 2tb drives (a seagate with CC35). i tried removing the hpa with dos seatools. It didnt work I then used hdat2 tools for dos and tried a 48 bit permanent removal. that didnt work then i tried the 28 bit removal, that also didnt work, i tried several combinations of the two as per the hdat forums without success, i also tried the automatic method. I then tried doing a factory restore using hdat2, this seemed to permanately wreck my drive and it could no longer be read properly. So ive just bought a new eads 2tb to replace it, and it is now currently rebuilding. Has anyone else ever had Hdat2 not be able to remove HPA?
  9. Joe, Should i use a different tool and set it for all drives (since its showing invalid on all of them) or just the drives that originally had HPA? ps, i really appreciate your help and knowledge
  10. Joe, I ran that command for the rest of my drives, including parity and a brand new pre cleared 2tb ears and it came up with the same result for all of them...?
  11. Hi Joe, root@SERVO:~# hdparm -N /dev/sdb /dev/sdb: max sectors = 3907029168/14715056(18446744073321613488?), HPA setting seems invalid (buggy kernel device driver?) root@SERVO:~#
  12. I am almost 100% positive that i used the right value, i checked my old syslog log for the native value and also checked what was printed on the drive itself. It is almost as if the system can now see the hpa area but cannot access it, if that makes sense?
  13. Has anyone had a chance to look at my syslog? any ideas?
  14. Hi Joe, sys log attached, Thankyou syslog-2011-02-20.txt
  15. Hi All, I had HPA on all 4 data drives except my parity. I removed it with the hdparm command, rebooted, accepted the new disk sizes, checked parity, it corrected 265 errors on each disk and is now fine. However whenever i start the share or reboot im getting 1 error on each of the drives that HPA was on. see below. anyone know what this means? 16. I too have the UD3L board, upgraded to the latest BIOS and was able disable HPA
  17. i appreciate the replys everyone, the onboard lan chip is a realtek 8111c cheers
  18. Hi Spectrum, yes you are right, however i had assigned them seperate IP adresses. I also tried plugging unraid directly into the dlink router with no success. I bought an intel gigabit pci card tonight, disabled the onboard lan, and it has fired right up!!!!! Is it common (unsurprising) for onboard lan to fail?
  19. ok, an update, i used the same usb key, the same network cable and the same router and booted unraid from my toshiba laptop, it loaded straight away and got an ip. So it must be an issue with the onboard lan on the gigabyte board. Do you think getting a new network card would be my next option?
  20. I feel like I have tried everything!! I have noticed, sometime my lan port leds will be orange and yellow, and sometimes green and yellow. neither seem to make a difference in connecting. my dhcp server on my router is working, just not for unraid. ive been using this motherboard and configuration for a few years. its really got me stumped.
  21. Hi, Thanks for the replys, I have now set a static ip address as described. My network is setup as follows. Dlink 604t modem/router wifi dlink dap1522 in bridge mode I have unraid connected to the bridge, which should get an IP from the 604t, i also have a htpc which is plugged into it and it gets an ip straight away. my default gateway is 10.1.1.1, i set unraid to use 10.1.1.7, subnet 255.0.0.0, these setting are also in the bridge. Do i need to set the static ip in my router too?
  22. Hi Simon, Yes, logging in directly using root When i type ifconfig -a i get eth0 Link encap:ethernet hwaddr 00:24:1d:25:65:5f UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:4 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 rxbytes:0 (0.0 b) tx bytes:(0 (0.0 B) Interrupt:29 base address 0xe000 network.cfg # Generated network settings USE_DHCP=yes IPADDR= NETMASK= GATEWAY= cheers
  23. Hi All, I am in the process of migrating from WHS to unraid, I bought a pro licence yesterday. Everything was going fine (albeit a few hiccups) today i powered down my unraid server to install a new disk. Now when it boots it wont get an IP address and therefore i cannot log in through the web interface. Things i have tried so far (in the last 8 hours !!!!) assign a static IP Check the usb is called UNRAID check that the link is up (it is) Change settings in BIOS about onboard lan etc take out the drive that i was going to add check and use different network cables check and use different ports on router it seems as though nothing i do will make it obtain an ip address. This happened a day ago also but after a reboot is was ok. It seems to have just happened out of the blue, im using a gigabyte ep43-ud3l attached is my syslog, any help would appreciated Regards, Brett syslog.txt
