  1. Works like a charm, nividia gtx1080 thanks for your contribution
  2. Intel have identified a problem with their SATA chipset, so beware if you are looking for a new PC. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/cougar-point-sandy-bridge-sata-error,12108.html#xtor=RSS-993
  3. Also in beta 2, I tried adding two new disks to an array at the same time, the console never cleared either one of them. I had to remove one and add them to the array one at a time
  4. Any possibility of eventually having a hot spare for an array Hot spare would obviously have to be as large as your largest drive (like parity drive) hot spare is spun down and waiting for a drive to fail Should unraid detect a failed drive, it spins up the hot spare drive, removes the failed drive from the array, substituting the hot spare drive in its place and starts a parity rebuild. When the failed drive is eventually physically replaced, it can take on the role of the new hot spare drive
  5. is there a way to disable bootable Add-on cards in the bios under boot order, I had to do that on one system, don't remember if it was a Phoenix BIOS or not BTW Unraid is worth the trouble, but I agree getting hardware to work sometimes is frustraiting - keep at it
  6. PhilH, Just one note: Get a big power supply, I used this board as my workstation for years, and blew (cheap) power supplies left and right, it was fine with a 500 watt one (Mad Dog), and I'm hoping my current 750 w Corsair PS holds up as I keep adding drive (my goal is 20 lol) but drives consume less power now a days then they did back then

  8. FYI I use 2 Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 8-Port SATA II Controller Cards in my system I just upgraded my mother board which has 3 64-bit PCI-X slots from one that just had PCI slots and saw the speed of Supermicro AOC-SAT2 almost double what the did when they were in PCI slots If I was building from scratch Id recomend the AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards to as PCIe x 16 slots are what new now But you can still find tons of old coprporate surplus PCI-X slot motherboards on ebay
  9. Just reporting a Supermicro x5dae Motherboarsd works with UNRAID (v5.0 b2) http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/E7505/X5DAE.cfm bios ver 1.3b It has one querk, it will not boot from USB via the back USB ports (near PS2 KB connector), but it does boot ok via USB using the motherboard USB connector labeled FBUSB2/3 (figuring this out drove me crazy) Current configuration Dual Intel Xeon 3.2 GHz 6 GB ram 3 x 64-bit PCI-X expansion slots which I currently have 2 Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 8 Channel 300MB/S Per Channel 64 Bit Pci-X Interface Serial ATA Adapters installed - with plans for a 3rd in a Norco 4020 20 drive case Currently with 7 1gb drives parity running in the upper 50s almost twice the speed as same hardware on old motherboard which only used PCI slots It's a beast!
  10. You might want to consider a multi wan router. I have one capable of 4 different routes I use 2 DSL lines (Different companies) and Cable to feed the thing http://www.edimax.us/ If one provider is out, everything just keeps on working For what you pay for a dial up account and a phone line you could have a second broadband connection, load balancing, and redundant paths google multi wan router http://www.google.com/search?q=multi+wan+wouter&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
