    does anyone suggest a particular brand of memory for supermicro boards? I bought 8gb of ram Hyper X and I do not think the MB likes it. I am not posting, getting any type of video etc... when the RAM is loaded on the MB i get no beeps from the MB either. When I take the RAM out I get the 5 beeps to indicate a RAM issue.

    What are your thoughts on this one? https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C236_C232/X11SAE-M.cfm Im not really doing any kind of VM addons just yet.... What processor should I go with and Memory. Primary purpose is to serve my KODI htpc with movies and High Res music.

    thanks I saw another thread and I stopped the tower. unassigned .... power down remove the disk power up... then you I had to start the array without the parity drive, then stop it power down add disk then power back on and then the parity drive then was not disabled anymore witha red x. however it needs to do a re-sync. i did an extended smart test and it passed before i did the above.

    I have been trying to pre clear a drive and it just quits at different random times. If it is still running look at your CPU on the Dashboard TAB and see if it is pinned at 100%.

    Have a new WD 4 TB red only a month old. Was able to pre clear with 3 passes. Within last 2 days the get the RED X. Tried a new sata cable. I wonder if my MoBo is dying its from 2008 been on forever or if this is indeed a drive issue. Been wanting to upgrade my hardware. Any thought son my red X ?     How come I cant pre clear drives anymore... Using the Plugin... Pins one of the CPUs to 100% all random. been trying to pre clear drive for a week now. Moved sata port... updated plugins, updated unraid 6.3.3, power cycle server 50 times is the drive bad or is the plug in broke? tower-diagnostics-20170404-2136.zip

    Geez... CPU pinned at 100 again and the elapse time is frozen.

    okay i just intiated a preclear_disk.sh -A /dev/sda from the /usr/local/emhttp/Preclear_disk folder... will see what happens

    I found some info in the /local/emhttp/ ... it confirms that it is frozen as it is not increment the elapse time...

    Can we run pre clear without the Plugin ? I do not see the command anymore in the /Boot directory or /Bin... pleclear_disk.SH

    So.. here is a pic. I just found my CPU os pinned again at 100%.

    I am having issues with this as well... I just tried a new sata port and I locked up my cpu at 100% again and the counter stopped. I Just tried to remove the plug in and reinstall and I will try again. After that I may need to RMA the HD ?

    Where did PRECLEAR.SH go in the command line ...it used to be something like this ... /boot/preclear_disk.sh -A -c 3 /dev/xxx

    So it just locked up CPU 1 again at 100 in the post read @ 58 % ... I am using the plug in. I will try to do this manually from the CLI and see what happens. tower-diagnostics-20170330-2116.zip

    Now in post read 53%... seems like this is working better. Only set for one pass.

    So far so good on third try... only selected one pass at zeroing 43%

    Here is my diag file... I was using the Plug In.... I used it last week with 2 similar drives and had no issues. The drive had some data on it but did not think I had to format it or anything before the pre clear... not sure if that is causing the issue. tower-diagnostics-20170329-1848.zip

    I am trying to preclear a WD RED 4tb. I am using the utility from the tools. I used this for 2 disk last week no problems. The current disk seem likes it failed or just stopped because the elapse time quit running at around 8:30:00. I noticed my second core on CPU pinned at 100%. Stopped server / reboot ... Restarted and same issue at 6:36:00. On the first pass... Is my disk bad or is some other issue? using 6.3.2
