  1. Better to go poof now than in a few weeks when you've tossed all the boxes and everything is hooked up.
  2. I'm using one of these for my server and my main desktop, all my networking gear, and my 32" TV I use as a monitor and I get around 40-50mins with the server off in a power outage.
  3. We've been using the WDidle.exe file for years here, and most of us do this first to any WD drive we put into the unRAID system. I found out about this on one drive that had sky high numbers of starts/stops and head parks.
  4. Amazon has been using short links like this for years. But I understand your skepticism
  5. Will Seagate still honor the warranty if you harvest the drive from the enclosure?
  6. A little cheaper if you can use one of the $20 off $200 offers floating around. Amex and I think Visa Checkout is also doing it.
  7. Please put price in title and a link to the item in your first post.
  8. I have at least one Seagate drive and it has been spinning away for a while now without issue. (knock on wood) Many here have Seagates and they're fine. Now, the 3TB Seagates from earlier had a lot of problems and I wouldn't touch those with a stick. I'd love one of those new 8TB shingled Seagate drives.
  9. Oh good, I'm glad to hear that. Do you think they would've sent you a replacement if they didn't think you used the 1-time coupon twice?
  10. Please let us know how the return process works with Jet. Do they cover shipping to you and back to them?
  11. Hmm, I wonder if that would still be Ok for warranty work if needed. I've heard that Jet isn't an authorized reseller since they don't actually stock anything.
  12. Did you get a Newegg packing slip? If so, does it say anything different from a regular Newegg order?
  13. Ahh, I see what you're saying now. Thanks for clarifying.
  14. It takes longer to do a parity check because before it was only checking up to 4TB, and now it's checking up to 8TB. Even if you have no >4TB array drives it will still take longer. I have a 6TB parity and my largest array drive is 4TB and it still checks those extra 2TB on the parity drive and takes forever.
  15. My 6TB Seagates take forever too. They're big drives There's a faster pre-clear script floating around here that increases the post-read speed, but I haven't used it yet.
  16. Jet is terrible if you ever need warranty service since Jet basically takes your money and then has your item drop shipped form another retailer. Too bad amazon didn't match this price, I'd love to remove a 1.5TB drive and move my current 6TB drive into the array. What are the temps like on these drives compared to WD Reds?
  17. Ok, this is weird... While logged i through Putty I'm seeing 800mHz, but the CPU info button on unRAID is saying 2700mHz. How could it be both at the same time?
  18. Thanks. So according to that thread my CPU is dynamically clocking up and down, and it settles at 800mHz now. BUT, the fan does not ramp up/down, it just stays at full power all the time. ETA: I figured it out, there was a funky BIOS setting that kept the fan from changing speed.
  19. It's the CPU fan. I couldn't find anything in the BIOS to slow the fan or slow the CPU clock.
