  1. Off course connection type and USB spec are different. I have a USB2.0 hub with a USB type C connector. Odd, but whatever. I know that USB3.x is meant to be backwards compatible with USB2.0. I dont think the DAC issue is a cable problem though. It doesnt seem to matter what cable I plug into it. When it is connected to a USB2.0 port it works as intended. Plug it into a USB3.x port and it is not even detected. I have tried three laptops and a desktop, utilising USB 3.0, 3.1, and 2.0 ports. Im going to try Shiit DAC which I have access to and see if that works.
  2. Mine has multiple USB controllers. They can all be passed through. Unfortunately the USB2 controller controlling the USB2.0 headers is the one with the Unraid USB attached. The others are all USB3.0 controllers. Its not an issue of passing through a USB controller. The issue with USB DACs is that they all indicate USB type A or C connectivity but not whether they are USB 3.0 compatable. It doesnt appear to be a relevant spec as DACs dont require USB3.0 speed, they dont even saturate USB2.0. Its connection type (Type A, B , mini, micro, or C) which is listed in specs. Focusrite Scarlett DAC for example lists USB Type B as its connection type but it doesnt say whether its USB 3.0 compatable. But as I said I can already pass through the onboard audio. I know it works in a VM. Every Windows VM I have created is able to successfully utilise the onboard sound. All of the Linux VMs I have created can see the onboard audio. Unplugging the audio cable results in the connection disappearing in a distro's sound settings. Its trying to work out why there is no audio even though the boards audio is available. No point buying a new DAC if its just a configuration to resolve.
  3. I know its a config issue. That's what I am trying to resolve. The working VM is Windows 10. So far I have tried Fedora and Linux Mint. Both distros see the output, just no audio. If I unplug the jack the input disappears from the sound options on Linux. I have a Fiio USB DAC. Unfortunately it doesnt work on USB3.0 ports (known problem) and the only USB2.0 ports are via MB headers. Which is where the unRAID USB is currently attached. So I cant pass them through.
  4. I have an X399 Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme MB. I can successfully pass through the motherboards audio output to my Windows 10 VM. However, I cannot get audio to work on Linux (distros Linux Mint 18.3 and Fedora 29). I have selected the same audio device on the VM template for the Linux VMs as I did for the Windows 10VM. AlsaMixer shows HD-Audio Generic as the audio card with a Realtek ALC1220 chip. None of the volumes are muted, nor can I find any other audio settings muted. I cannot get any audio to work though. Anyone able to offer some advice?
  5. I disabled Grammarly in Chrome and SSL now works fine. Oddly when I tried Microsoft Edge it will not even attempt to open my servers page. No error, nothing. Thankfully I dont utilise Edge.
  6. Yes. I am logging in from the Android app using a user I created called "vmuser". I have to utilise the root password as the one for the actual "vmuser" does not find a server. By unselectable, I mean that the VM is listed with the start, edit, and undefine options greyed out. There is also some weirdness going on with checking the various boxes next to a VM in the plugin. If I check a box another previously checked box disappears and another one appears. It is like playing whack-a-mole. As an example I just removed all check marks. When I check "Visible" for a VM "Read" also is checked. When I then check "Exec" it stays checked for a few seconds then becomes unchecked. If I then go to another VM and check "Visible" it stays checked for a second or so then becomes unchecked. However, the "Exec" which I had previously checked, which went unchecked, now becomes checked. I am using Chrome v 71.0.3578.98. On the Android device, I would like to only have displayed a "Start" and "Stop" button for whatever VMs I want to be selected. I am intending to use your app as an interface to start whatever VM I want onto my monitors. So whilst I have a bunch of VMs I dont need to have shown on the app as starting them doesn't do anything because they don't have GPU pass-throughs. For example, when I am no longer using my desktop VM I want to shut it down and turn off the monitors. When I do want to use it again I can start whichever VM I want to utilise using the Android app. Which means only VMs with GPU passthroughs. The description changes every time I make alterations in the plugin as well.
  7. Hi there. I am using unraid v 6.6.6, ControlR v 2018.10.3, and ControlR android app v 4.5.0 I have the user account set to only show a single VM with visible, read, and exec checked. All other VMs or Docker containers are blank. When I log into the app on my tablet, however, all Docker containers are visible (though not selectable). Also, all VMs are visible (though not selectable). How do I prevent Docker containers or VMs even being visible when they have not been selected in the plugin UI? I dont need Dockers to be accessible via the app and also want to control which VMs are visible.
  8. My daily driver is a Windows 10 VM. I also utilise various Linux VMs. At the moment I have an Android tablet on my desk which I utilise to start and stop VMs. However, its not ideal as its just the VM webpage which has way more data than I need. I would like to have on my tablet a webpage which would have buttons for the various VMs I utilise. So I could click an icon to start a VM, click it again to shut the VM down. It would be interesting as well whether a device such as an Elgato Streamdeck could be utilised to start and stop VMs. I think it would be extremely functional to have a small device on the desktop to do this. Is there a way to do this already?
  9. Yeah I looked at that. Its $70 delivered to Australia. I also have a GT710 but its not PCI x1. If the adaptor works I use the card I have and save $50.
  10. Offcourse, two. One local, one off-site. I also have the original data which I was in the process of moving from the old server to the new server. The new server has a larger storage capacity with new disks. I had moved all my data to the new array and wanted to take the smaller 3TB disks from the old array and add them to the new array. They have no data on them now.
  11. No. There won't be an old server. Once I have moved the last of my data over to the new server it will be dissembled. Its disks will be added to the new server as data drives.
  12. I have always pre-cleared disks before putting them in the array, even brand new disks. Since I started utilising unraid the advice was to pre-clear so as to ensure the disks I was installing were good. I have had a number of brand new disks, as recent as October, fail pre-clear. I returned them to the supplier and received replacements. If I can move those disks into my new array without any intermediary steps then I would be saving days. If clearing disks isn't necessary then it would have been simpler just say that I could pull them out of the old server and install them in the new.
  13. My new build, a Gigabyte x399 Aorus Xtreme, has 4 x16 PCIe slots (x16, x8, x16, x8) and a PCIe x1 slot. I am wanting to utilise 2 GPUs passed through to VMs. One to my primary VM running multiple monitors. The second passed through to Steam OS to allow remote gaming. This isn't a problem to do from a passthrough perspective. One of my x16 slots has a 1080 FTW installed(x16), another has a SAS Host Controller (x8). That leaves me two x16 slots, an x8 and an x16. At the moment the x16 (x8) slot has an old GeForce GT 710 low profile card installed, otherwise, my 1080FTW is taken as a primary display and therefore cannot be passed through. I don't like using the x16 (x8) slot immediately next to the 1080FTW as even though its a low profile card it blocks one of the 1080's fans. I was thinking that I might be able to utilise a PCIe adaptor (x1 to x16) to allow me to move the GT710 out of the way. The bandwidth doesn't matter as nothing is ever going to be attached to the 710. Its solely so I can pass through the other GPUs. Do you think it will work? It would be easy if you could buy x1 video cards. Unfortunately, I have not found any. My other thought was to utilise one of those adaptors miners utilise.
  14. @johnnie.black is it necessary to go through the process of removing the drive from an old array if it is going to be pre-cleared in the new? I am almost finished transferring everything over to my new server. I'm going to have 6 spinning drives and 4 cache drives to move over once all the data is transferred. Can I simply format the drives on the old server, remove them from the system then install them in the new server and pre-clear? Sure would save a large amount of time.
  15. Resolved. Only the centre slot works with M.2 SSDs. To utilise the outer slots requires NVMe M.2 drives. The board will work with an M.2 SSD in the centre and an NVME M.2 drive in any of the others but not in any other config. So if you want multiple M.2 drives on the x399 Aorus Xtreme they have to be NVMe, regardless of what the specs say/dont say.
  16. In setting up my new server I was intending to utilise XFS encrypted as my default file system. After successfully provisioning a certificate the UI became incredibly slow. It took 30sec for a page to become available. Ive turned off SSL in Management Access area and the UI is once again responsive. What's going on here?
  17. I got it to work after changing the file system type a number of times and refornatting the drives. Alas the script kept crashing so Ill try the way you linked. Thanks.
  18. I am wanting to remove three drives from my array. I utilised the Unbalance plugin to move all data of the disk I want to remove. I then stopped the array and changed the file format of the three drives from their existing format. I then restarted the array and formatted all three drives. I then utilised Midnight commander to create a folder in each disk called "clear-me". When I run the clear an array drive script it tells me "Checked 8 drives, did not find an empty drive ready and marked for clearing! " How can there be files or folders on the drives after I changed the file type and reformatted the drives? What else do I need to do?
  19. Im beginning to think its a motherboard fault. Both M.2 drives work in the centre M.2 port. I am able to access them in unRaid as well as a Fedora which I installed onto a spare SSD. However, neither of the drives work in the other two M.2 ports.
  20. Diagnostics attached. tower-diagnostics-20190117-1113.zip
  21. I am in the process of building myself a new system. A Gigabyte x399 Aorus Xtreme MB, AMD Threadripper 2950X, 64GB ECC memory plus some other junk in Case Labs SM8 Merlin case. I have a query about the motherboard M.2 drives. At the moment only one M.2 drive shows up in Unraid. I was hoping to utilise two M.2 drives as cache. Each of my drives are good. I can swap them between slots and unraid will see different drives. However, when I have two drives installed only one is available. Do I have to raid them in BIOS first?
  22. Mine is working fine. Other than having to download new client software all the time. Too much babysitting.
