Yep given it a go! I've disabled c-states and set power to typical idle but still no cigar 🚬🤪
What about the RAM recommendations at that link?

Have you seen this FAQ?

my HDD's in main view are still showing a "*" (Star)
According to your screenshot they are all spun down, so temp is unavailable. That is the way it has always worked for everyone.

Generally speaking is there an estimate on how long until 6.9.0 hits stable?

This is the way it is designed to work, and some people depend on it working that way. No and Only shares are ignored by mover.

Partial workaround:
Go to Settings - Display Settings and change "Show Dashboard apps" to "Docker only". Then Dockers on Dashboard work but you will have to go to VMS page to work with your VMs.
In case anyone missed it since it was on the 1st page

Just stop your VM's and all dockers clickable again...*joking*
Try not to use the dashboard for this, until the bug is fixed, since this is a beta, it's expected to have bugs...

Is your server the local master?

Hosting fees is also a factor.
I doubt it. The important reason was already explained soon after that post you quoted.

Why the concern over install size?
Unraid doesn't install to the flash. The flash is just the archives of the install. It installs into RAM.

Are the post-reboot diagnostics useful?
Syslog resets on reboot, and that is where we would look for evidence. Unless you also have Syslog Server setup to preserve syslogs

Sorry for not elaborating further, I was on mobile at the time.
Some hardware implementations of USB3 seem to drop connection. There is no benefit for USB3 speed in the case of Unraid Flash. The archives of the OS are unpacked fresh from flash at each boot into RAM, and the OS runs completely in RAM. Think of it as firmware except easier to work with. Flash also stores settings you make in webUI so they can be reapplied at boot.

Boot from a USB2 port.

Changing slots still does not necessarily mean you want the shares to be set up any differently.
Of course there should be no changes to user share settings, and there is no change.
I always discourage sharing disks on the network anyway.
Retaining disk share settings when those settings apply to a specific slot instead of to a specific disk and its data doesn't seem any more correct to me than to just have default settings applied to all disks and then let the user make any changes needed.
I agree though that either way can be confusing for the user and making it more visible does make sense.
-
Even if you retain all you can still make any changes including changing slots so some default settings is probably the only thing that makes sense.

Does unraid support a RAID1 pool using XFS?
no

Possibly yet another reason to not use USB in the array.
