  1. I was a little scared of the docker image rebuild. Not sure why. Man that was painless with the previous apps. Select all, hit go, and done. All just the way it was before and up and running. Will test again tonight and see if the issue is resolved or not.
  2. Hmm, well bummer. I moved it to the cache drive anyway and didn't see any change at all. Might be time to rebuild docker image as when the server reboots the docker service fails to start. I have to do into settings and flip docker off, then back on again for it to start. Power outage last night did it again where no dockers we shown/running. Flip of off then back on and away I go again. Found a different thread where users were reporting this and rebuilding the docker image seemed to resolve it.
  3. This may be a facepalm moment but I think I may have finally figure out my issue. Was digging around other threads and was just about to start the process of deleting/rebuilding my docker image from scratch to see if I saw an improvement. Then I started to wonder where the docker image was stored. I check docker settings, saw the path. Went to my cache drive to make sure it was there I guess and nothing. docker.img didn't exist on the cache drive. Dug a bit more and found it on one of the drives on the array. Checked share settings and sure enough it was set to "Prefer" for use cache disk. I won't be able to verify until I get home but I am pretty confident that my cache drive got full, and mover did what it was supposed to and ninja moved docker.img on the array without me noticing. Got it moved back to the cache drive now so I can test to verify when I get home. Sucks to admit but hope it was this simple and just didn't catch it. Might be time to upgrade the cache drive.
  4. linuxserver.io's container. Been running it since the beginning. No issues to speak of until this came up.
  5. That makes sense then. Just though it was weird it shows 300%. I don't think there is anything out of the ordinary then shown in docker stats. I wonder if I should just setup an alternate plex docker, add a limited library and see if I get the same issues or not.
  6. Is 300% CPU% abnormal?? Not sure how that happens. Unraid GUI shows 100% CPU while docker stats show 300%. That is when I started a trans code from a remote player. Mem usage is at 180MB-260MB out of 16GB. Total mem usage on the system sits at around 60% I also disabled plex dvr to see if that made a difference and changes the network settings of my unraid box on neither made a difference. Playing a trailer before movie takes a crazy long time to load. Used to be almost instant, now it is 20 secs if it starts at all. Plex GUI still seems to lag behind what it used to me as well. Did you make any progress on the issues you were seeing?
  7. So DNSSEC? Seems like if I enable this the docker loses the ability to resolve DNS completely. Disabling it does not resolve the issue. Only way to correct it that I have found is removing docker+image and then deleting the data folder and starting over. Is this something to just leave off anyway? Seemed like and alright thing. Been running pihole in VM with this enabled for months.
  8. I am sure it is affecting my server as a whole as well. Plex is just the thing that we use the most so it is the most noticeable. I am curious if it has something to do with the network settings I checked mine and had bonding enabled but only one nic so I disabled that for now. I have 13 docker containers running, Yes on the cach drive and yes that is where plex lives. Media is all on the array. How do you run docker stats? Found a thread on the plex forums with an issue with the live tv dvr function. Are you using that? They said it was spiking cpu and all sorts of stuff. Apparently it was corrected in the latest build of plex (which I am on). Just curious what similarities we have in our systems. Will give it a try tonight when I get home and see if it has improved with disabling bonding.
  9. Anyone else seeing this at all? Suggestions on where to look?
  10. Hey All, Just wondering if anyone else had see a slowdown after the update to 6.4.0? It may be unrelated but it seems that after I updated to 6.4 plex has not been as responsive. This is on my local network. For example we have 2 trailers play before a movie and it takes 15-30 seconds for the trailer to load. Switching between libraries on the plex media play big screen mode will sometimes not have any art for 30 seconds or so. I uninstalled/re-installed the media player on the target machine with no change. Not sure where to start to see if this is related to unraid, or just plex by itself. Thanks
  11. Hey All, Is there anyway to see a list of changed files? I have CP PRO set to backup in the wee morning hours between 2AM and 6AM everyday. I have been checking on it lately in the evening and seeing that it has 30+GB "To Do" almost every day. I am trying to find what/where the changed files are so I can make sure I am not wasting a crazy amount of bandwidth. I have already excluded the plex transcode directory thinking that was it but no change. The other thing to note is that my total backup set size is not increasing. It is sitting at about the same number since the beginning (which is expected). Just trying to find out what files are changing to I can determine if they need to be included in the backup or not. Thanks Geoff
  12. Hey All, Since my last questions went oh so good and I got so much helpful info I figured I would try another. Never looked into running an ad blocker before or really had a desire to. Happened across Pi Hole and partly loved the name and was just curious. Spun up a Ubuntu server vm with minimal resources and got in configured. All in all it was pretty painless and seems to work right out of the box. So for others that are possibly more experienced with ad blockers in general. What do you run and why?
  13. Well decision was made for me. pfsense was working but didn't want to leave the board/cpu as it was way overkill for pfsense. Was by a microcenter yesterday and picked up a USG. Got it plugged in this morning, we'll see how it goes.
  14. Any chance you can point me in the right direction on the reporting side of pfsense? Did some searching after reading your post and it seems like the pflogstsh docker is no longer in development, is it still good? ELK look like that needs to run on a different machine/VM. I did install the squid package looked at the options and decided I didn't have the time for that right now. I would really like to get pfsense setup for some nice reporting though but not sure where to start. Yeah I toyed with that idea as well, the pfsense vm part. My two hangups were what if unraid goes down that means no internet at all without swapping in a different box. And the security side of things. Just seems like having the pfsense vm is somehow less secure that having a physical pfsense box. The general consensus from a security standpoint was a firewall should be a firewall even though I found no evidence at all that a VM of pfsense would be less secure than a physical box. I would like to get the eqipment I am currently running pfsense on back for other purposes but I would have to purchase a multi port nic card to do that so for right now until I figure out if I am going to stick on pfsense or move to a USG or something else leaving it as is. What is running your unraid server? I did setup openvpn through pfsesne and it worked fine but since I was switching routers in and out I figured it would be easier to run it as a docker on unraid with only the port forward setup in pfsense. That way if I can swap and change as much as I want and all I have to setup is 2 port forwards (Plex and OpenVPN) and my current setup is back up and running. My unraid box is currently and i5 16GB ram so it handles the openvpn connection with no problem.
  15. That makes sense. I like playing around with stuff but I like it when stuff just works even better. unRaid has ran like a champ for me since the day I set it up and I am continuing to add to my setup to expand the functionality. Setting up unRaid was pretty much the best decision I have made right after Plex and buying 50 pairs of the exact same socks. I hate trying to find matching socks. Even went through a HDD failure a few months after moving all my data over. Replaced the drive and everything rebuilt from parity without issues. That finally got the wife on-board with the idea too. Tried to explain it before that happened that if we lost a drive her 100K pictures would just be gone. Never really made sense until the drive failed. Made explaining the cost of CP Pro pretty easy too. The more I think about it the more I feel like the USG is the way to go. Keep it simple and it has most of what I will ever need/want. I assume there is no issues with the USG utilizing my 100/100 connection to it's fullest? We have fiber right to our house so we can get 1Gb/1Gb connection if we want to pay for it. Whatever I do get I want it to be something that will handle the load I have now and what I might have tomorrow. Is the USG good enough or is jumping to the pro a good idea for future proofing?
  16. The USG devices look pretty slick connecting to the unifi controller and since I already have the unifi AP's it seems like the way to go. I tried their controller demo and they have some application reporting but no way to filter it by day/week/month. Actually there is no time reference at all so the data is sort of useless but I imagine that will improve. Attached a pic of what that dashboard looks like. The Edge Router Lite (ERLite-3) apparently has the identical specs to the USG but the EdgeOS or whatever powers it is more mature with more options. I guess you can still do everything on the OSG but you have to jump into the cli to get some of it done. I think for the basics, lan, port forward, dhcp either would be fine though. The impression I get from the internet as a whole is go with the edgerouter over the USG. Anyone have either than can comment?
  17. Hey All, Hoping to get some advice on what router/firewall you guys are running. I had been running a netgear router flashed with DD-WRT for quire a while but that died. We use the meraki product line at work so I brought one home and used that for a few months. The one really nice thing the meraki offers is the reporting. It is really nice to log into the management interface and see what devices, applications, etc are using bandwidth and how much. This can be filtered by day/week/month or custom time frame. Not that I need this reporting, but seeing SSL Encrypted traffic accounting for the majority of my usage for some reason makes me sleep better. I setup a pfsense box and have been using that for a couple of weeks on hardware I had laying around. It does the job but the reporting that is available is pretty minimal. I tried some add-on packages but could’t find one that I felt was worth it. I have it running on desktop hardware so the electricity cost will be much higher than an embedded device. Might takes years to make up the purchase price of a decent router but I can also re-purpose that hardware for something else. I started looking at the edge router/unifi security gateways as I currently have 2 unifi AP’s. Seems like the USG might be an ok option. If your using something that you love that gives you any cool bandwidth reporting let me know. Struggling to make a decision. Thanks!
  18. Anyone else seeing CPU usage spike with this docker running? When my server sitting idle it is normally 0-5% CPU usage. When I start this docker it sits around 30%+ all the time. It is running as expected and doing everything it should but what is it doing all the time? Backups are scheduled to run 2am-6am only. Changing cpu setting in the docker % when away, % when present seem to not change anything. I also tried the niceness setting in advance setup but didn’t see a change their either. Am I missing something? This normal for this docker? This was a fresh install/backup set so no conversion or other stuff like that.
  19. Saw this on youtube and wanted to give it a try. Ran through all the steps with ease but ran into one issue. After everything was setup running through the VPN with no DNS leaks detected rebooting the VM would break everything. Took me a while to figure it out but finally found that on reboot, the VM could not resolve the DNS of the VPN host. It's couldn't resolved any DNS for that matter. nslookups would fail. I imagine this is due to the dns leak fix that sets the dns from the vpn tunnel, but because the vpn tunnel cannot be established the dns is never set. Not sure if this was the right was to do this or not but this is what I did. sudo nano /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base #Add the following line - mine was balnk, adjust ip for ip of your VM. nameserver 192.168.1.254 Crtl+O, Enter, Ctrl+X Then, sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces #Adjust dns--nameservers to the following - adjust ip for ip of your vm dns-nameservers 192.168.1.254 Crtl+O, Enter, Ctrl+X sudo reboot Then ifconfig to check the tunnel was up, nslookup google.com to ensure DNS was working. And finally checked PIA to show I was connected through tunnel and http://dnsleak.com/ to make sure no dns leaks were detected. Not sure why this happened or if I missed something in the tutorial or even if this is the right way to fix it but it worked for me. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge on the topic can comment on this. @gridrunner you following this thread still? Also on a side note, removing the dnsmasq package and rebooting brought everything back up but the DNS leak still persisted. Reinstalling dnsmasq would then correct the dns leak if I remember right (it's late) but then on reboot it would all quit again. I plan on adjusting the DCHP service on my pfsense box tomorrow to hand out the gateway and DNS of the VPN VM so everything connected to my network is routed through the tunnel to see how it goes. The nice thing then is everything is included in the VPN tunnel by default, but if I want to exclude a device, I just set a static ip with the gateway and DNS from my pfsense box to bypass the tunnel. That is the thought anyway. Hope this helps if anyone else tries this out and runs into the same problem. Also, it would be awesome to see something like this as a docker image. And gridrunner, keep up the amazing videos. I think I have watched most more than once!!!
  20. Hey All, Hoping someone has a solution to this or maybe I just misunderstood the crash plan going away email. I have been running the crash plan docker on my unraid server and backing up other computers to my unraid host. I just got an email saying Chashplan home was going away and you needed to move to crash plan business. I am curious how this affects my though as I am not using their cloud storage just backing up to my unraid host. I looked at syncthign and not 100% sure that will fit the build. Basically I am just looking for a simple ....select files to backup and run at 4am solution. I don't need immediate sync across multiple devices or anything. Just want a simple way to backup local or remote devices to my unraid server at home. Crashplan was doing a fine job but I am not sure where I site with the termination of the home service. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Hey All, Hoping someone can offer a bit of an explanation of how this all works. Been using unraid for NAS/Docker/Media server for quite some time. I recently brought home a MB/CPU that supported VT-D as I wanted to try out the GPU pass through to hopefully replace the other tower that is connected to my TV. I set everything up with a win10 vm passing through a 750ti. First hurdle was the screen was just black. Figured out I needed to have a secondary video card so I enabled the onboard graphics to bypass that. Now I have video. Finished the install, download all the drivers, thought I would be good to go. Then I heard the demonic voice stuff that is covered here, http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_Manual_6#Enable_MSI_for_Interrupts_to_Fix_HDMI_Audio_Support. Did the reg edit on both the 750ti and the NVIDIA HD audio device. Demonic sound non-sense taken care of. Now I figured I was good to go but I can only play a video hulu, netflix, youtube, etc. for a couple mins and the audio and video become out of sync. Now I am coming up to another thread about pinning cpu cores or something. I don't feel like it should be this hard, something must not be supported. So for now, I am going to go back to my old setup of an uraid box, and a box that runs my tv...sure glad I found a MB/CPU to test the passthrough with before dropping all the cash for the setup I wanted. But what the heck is not supported. Is it determined by the GPU, MB, CPU, or just Settings?? I am more or less out of parts to borrow/throw in to test different combinations but really just want to know what is not working. Is there anyone of you out there that have experience with this at all? Is there some info that I could post that would help you tell me where I am going wrong? From the machine type, Bios, Hyper-v etc....not sure what setting I should be changing or really even where to look. Is there a setup guide or something out there somewhere that shows recommended setup? I am running unraid 6.3.5. Everything on the VM I left at the default.
  22. Yeah I did see the docker. Just looking for more of a suggestion on the easiest way of gettting something setup to say allow my sister to backup photos to my server
  23. Hey All, I am working on setting up my first unraid server, just waiting for new HDD's to arrive. Is there an easy way that I could allow select family/friends to backup their important data to my server? It is already on anyway so why not right? Anyone use own cloud? Is this possible through that? Just want it to be simple for them to use. I would only want them to be able to access their files. Maybe BTSync? Thanks in advance!
