  1. The Admin user can always VPN in, i cannot see a way to disable this. provided you change the admin password they cannot login obviously. but even with the GUI removed they could still brute force the admin password since there is no way to disable that from the UI.
  2. i am beyond amazed, that worked so easily. Any other array system would require a complete wipe and rebuild to do that. That's my evaluation completed this system replaces my VM Server, NAS and is far more flexible than anything else I've tested. Time to go buy my license.
  3. Parity2 is now building but arggg how do i remove Disk 8 from the array
  4. I added in my Parity2 drive and selected all my additional data drives. When i went to select start array it said you cannot do a disk replacement and add drives. So i unselected Parity2 and clicked start array. Somehow it added in the Parity2 disk into the Data array with all my other disks. I couldn't do anything since it was starting the array, i went back in unselecting the disk i want to use for my Parity 2 and starting the array again. Now it has Disk 8 marked as not installed i never used it, how do i remove disk 8 from my array ? helppp
  5. It is great to have firewalls blocking everything but lets say you want your VPN Server port open to everyone or optionally some other application. Port Knocking is yet another wonderful extra security layer, you can easily from a web browser window hit your server on port 10000,200,50 and it unlock your VPN Server Port for the ip address your on. Yes specific firewall rules are a great thing but lets face it some services you won't always know where your coming from, to have these applications closed off from access will prevent hacking services instead of allowing everyone access to the service. I noticed that a lot of docker adds to iptables, knockd can also be added easily to iptables. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Port_knocking
  6. My own stupid fault didn't set auth to Local User before issuing the docker password commands. Works fine now on reboot
  7. Yes agree the GUI shouldn't be public facing but if someone was to VPN to my server with admin and password they would also get a login to my local network
  8. Maybe this is something obvious but i can't seem to work it out. Whenever i update my admin password in the docker from ssh i can login fine with the new password. When i shutdown the docker and restart it, the admin password is changed back to password. This worries me since its public facing, i've tried to also change the authentication method's but that doesn't seem to prevent this. How do i make the admin password stick and not change. please help
  9. Thanks @gridrunner I stumbled across your videos as well trying to fix my synolgy nas. Needless to say after watching your informative videos I saw unraid did everything my server and nas did so just finished rolling out my unraid server of 15 drives. Always used your videos for reference throughout the build. Do keep up the good work. About to purchase my license.
  10. Managed to get phpVirtualBox working and some VM's setup. They show up in the WebUI in Unraid but when i reboot Unraid it seems to wipe out the VirtualBox.xml file in /opt/VirtualBox on boot and defaults it back without the VM's in it. Is there a reason it is wiping it out. I am getting around it with copying the XML back into place and restarting the VirtualBox.
  11. I have filled up my first 6 drive with media from my TV Share while moving from my old NAS to my new UNRAID setup. Now i have added in the 6 drives from my old NAS into the new UNRAID. Problem is i now have 6 drives completely full and 6 drives completely empty. I haven't been able to find a script or plugin that will allow me to load balance the drives. Is there something i can run that will move some folders off of my first 6 drives onto the new 6 drives till they are near the same drive space used?
  12. I just install Virtualbox for the first time and set it up. Downloaded and started it on port 8084. when i go to the Webui i get this error. 13. Thank you guys.. I managed to borrow an old server at work that was a supermicro server. It has an AMI bios with a UEFI Shell built in. Apparently all supermicro motherboards have this which is great. Plugged the card in booted into UEFI Shell, flashed the card all of 2 minutes work. Thanks for your help, and if anyone else is stuck find a mate with a server motherboard seems to be a quick way.
  14. My Motherboard will not boot EFI looks like i cannot flash it here I tried your instructions PeteB and i also looked in my BIOS for UEFI Security sections nothing really that useful in there. The problem with SAS2FLASH is its compiled for i686 and Unraid is x86_64 i think that is causing the issues.
  15. Hi All, I've been trying to convert my 9211-8i from IR to IT. I have tried in Windows but it says it cannot erase properly so i cannot flash from IR to IT. I've tried EFI but my EVGA Z87 FTW has UEFI it won't seem to boot the shell at all, it can see the shell on the USB stick. So i booted up Unraid and thought i would try Linux since i will be running unraid once i get this sorted. Downloaded all the utilities from broadcom's website and put sas2flash for linux on a USB Stick. I also get the following error when i try running it sas2flash: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error I don't know what to do i have spent about 2 days on this already and its not that easy to firmware flash Any suggestions ? Can i use this in IR mode? 01:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] (rev 03) Subsystem: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 I/O ports at e000 Memory at df6c0000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) Memory at df280000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) Expansion ROM at df200000 [disabled] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 3 Capabilities: [68] Express Endpoint, MSI 00 Capabilities: [d0] Vital Product Data Capabilities: [a8] MSI: Enable- Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+ Capabilities: [c0] MSI-X: Enable+ Count=15 Masked- Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting Capabilities: [138] Power Budgeting <?> Capabilities: [150] Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) Capabilities: [190] Alternative Routing-ID Interpretation (ARI) Kernel driver in use: mpt3sas Kernel modules: mpt3sas
