  1. Thanks. I'll check it out soon. Also, I figured out why the _users db wasn't being generated. It's because when I clicked on single node configuration in the last template nothing happened. I downloaded couchdb 2.1.1 to a local test setup, and upon clicking single node the change took and the db was setup. So hopefully this new template works as expected. I'll report back if not.
  2. Is couchdb 2.x setup correctly? Under databases on the web interfaces, you are supposed to get a _users database but no pre defined database shows. In addition, hitting the setup as single node button does nothing. Also, is there any chance to get couchdb 2.1.1? I'm trying to sync a large database, and it is constantly freezing. I'm wondering if this is configured correctly. Thanks.
  3. trurl was correct. It worked like a charm. Thanks for your help.
  4. Hi All, I’m in a situation where I want to replace a drive with another exact drive that is slightly newer and use the other for usb purposes. What is a current process for copying the drive after a preclear? Then once the data is copied, how do I make the new drive active and remove the old drive? Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the replies. My switch supports LACP, but it doesn't give an option of active or passive. Turning LACP on and having unraid set to 802.3ad works now with both cables. I'm hoping that is the correct way to set it up.
  6. Unraid has had some frustrations during this trial period. I have my switch setup for link aggregation. My unraid is setup to use 802.3ad. It was working then stopped. I cannot get it to connection unless I pull one of the cables from t he switch. What could be the problem?
  7. I seem to have fixed the problem somehow. I rebooted unraid. I also made time machine the only AFP share. Now it seems to be working.
  8. Hi All, I'm running high sierra, and I successfully got a time machine backup. Now when I go to backup again, it shows that the disk is in use. I'm connecting via AFP. Does anyone have some suggestions that might work? I've read on the up to date settings post that high sierra time machine is using SMB instead of AFP. I didn't try to go that route. Also, you can limit the size of time machine going that route, and I don't want it to use the whole disk. My settings are attached.
  9. Thanks for your help. It seems like there isn’t much of a downside to use Btrfs.
  10. Sorry phone botched the words. I corrected above. What do you use for the scrub? And how often do you run it?
  11. I read that it can’t correct errors. However with that information in the metadata, can you correct the error manually? The challenge I suppose would be scrubbing the data. Is anyone here using Btrfs that can comment?
  12. HI All, I figured I'd piggy back on this thread. I just setup a new XFS Unraid server. So far it is working fine. My one concern is that XFS doesn't do any error checking. Should I be worried about that? Would it make sense to reformat the drives to BTRFS to have this capability? I don't have that much data on there that I couldn't start from a fresh disk again. I'm new to NAS servers and am curious to know what others think.
  13. Thanks. i scratched the existing array and am in the process of preclearing.
  14. Hi All, I decided to pull the trigger on Unraid instead of going with Synology. I hope I made the right decision. I ran my 3 harddrives through WD Data Liefeguard. I did the 5 step process and all was good. Well I forgot to preclear them, and they are now part of an array. Do I need to or should I run preclear as well? Would I need to delete the array and start from scratch (not data is on it)? I would appreciate any feedback on what the best approach is. Thanks.
  15. I’ve also seen some replies to this topic from a couple of years ago with older versions of Unraid where they weren’t too happy and were thinking of the name brand NAS units. I wanted something more current which is why I started this tooic.
  16. Thanks for the responses. It seems the favorite is Unraid. I'll give it a few more days to see how others chime in.
  17. I’m in the market for a NAS. I see some comparisons for older models amd versions of Unraid but nothing current. I’m looking to go with 3 6TB drives or 8TB drives with not much need for more than 4 in the next 3 years. I’d setup 1 drive for parity with data backed up offsite. My needs are storage, plex with no need to transcode more than 1 stream, and maybe some lightweight docker stuff. I can buy this synolgy unit that has a dual core celeron with 2gb Ram or build a 4 core i5 with 8gb Ram for about the same price. The Synology has 2 gigE ports for more speed but may not matter with my computer only having 1. The Unraid device would have a tad more for expansion but won’t really matter in my situation. Does anyone have experience with newer units and versions of each that they can share? Any suggestions would be welcome. I’m proficient with tech and used to build my own PC’s. I use a Macbook Pro now. Thanks.
