The new docs wiki is looking great! What framework was used to create them? I'm looking to create a similar wiki for my site, and would like to use the same framework.

I got it working. It was the permissions. Need to make sure 0770 is set for permission and user:group is set to 33:33 (which translates to sshd:sshd). Though for some strange reason both the permissions and user:group seem to get reset every so often to 0777 and nobody:users (which seems to be the UnRaid defaults). Anyone know why this permissions reset happens?

I'm getting errors after the log says that Nextcloud was successfully installed. Anyone figure out how to solve this? i've tried several times, and get the same error. Found a solution on the Install section of the github page. Point 9 & 10. https://github.com/JonathanTreffler/backblaze-personal-wine-container#installation It appears that you have to add Drive D to wine manually. Seems to work now.

Anyone here using the `Backblaze_Personal_backup` container? I'm supposed to see a "Drive D" in the Backblaze software (this should point to the storage array) but I don't see a "Drive D" I see Drive C and Z. Drive C is the wine emulated drive C contents, and drive Z is the root of the docker container. Am I missing something?

I realize it's simple to just re-add them, but I'm a geek. I like to understand the deeper inner workings of the system. Checked /config/smb-extra.conf on the flash. These are the contents. No reference to any of the shares I was looking for. I even followed he link at /tmp/unassigned.devices/smb-settings.conf, and still nothing. Where else can I look?

Where is the config file that stores the "Remote SMB shares" that are displayed in the "Main" page of Unraid? I have a couple of shares that need editing since the server they came from has changed IP address. All I seem to be able to do from the unraid GUI is remove or add a share, but no way to edit.

I have a Plus copy of UnRaid, which has a 12 drive limit. In my server setup I need to passthrough a LSI 9201-16i HBA to a windows VM. The problem is that the HBA card has 16 drives attached to it, and i can't start the array (and hence pass through the PCIe card) because UnRaid is throwing an error saying that I have too many drives, and the array can't be started. How do I deal with this situation? I don't want unraid to see that PCIe HBA, but I do want unraid to pass it through to a VM.

I have recently noticed very slow transfer speeds moving/copying data from the cache drive to the unraid array. We're talking in the order of 10-20MB/s kind of speeds. I only recently noticed this because I wanted to manually move a file off the cache drive. From a network connection (1GB) I can saturate the link in read/write to the cache, and similarly I get reasonable transfer speeds to the unraid array in read/write from the same network connection. Where do I even start trying to troubleshoot this problem?

I decided to install FreeNAS corral as a VM on unraid so I can play with it. I gave the FreeNas a dedicated SATA controller card and attached a bunch of HDs to it. Setup a simple ZFS volume and a test share. While doing some file transfer tests, I'm finding a weird discrepancy which I can';t explain. Network topology: Workstation PC (running Win 10) --> 1GB Ethernet --> Unraid 6.3.3 Windows 10VM (running on Unraid) FreeNAS Corral VM (running on Unraid) (The Windows 10 OSs, Unraid and FreeNAS are installed with the basic installation defaults. No customization was done for network behaviors.) Benchmarking: The test file was just shy of a 1GB. I copy the test file from Workstation PC over ethernet and I get 113MB/s write to Unraid (it's writing to a SSD cache disk) I copy the same file back from UnRaid (from cache SSD disk) to the Workstation PC and I get 113MB/s read. This makes sense. I saturate the gigabit connection. I copy the same test file from the Win10 VM to and I get 130MB/s write and 180MB/s read to the FreeNAS zfs share on the FreeNAS VM This also makes sense. Since both VMs are on the same hardware, I'm likely getting to the read/write limit of the HDs. Now if I copy the test file from the Workstation PC over the LAN to the FreeNAS share, I only get 80MB/s write speed. (Read speeds over the LAN are 113MB/s, as expected) What would cause this limiting in transfer speed when I know the array can be written to faster and I know the ethernet connection can also handle faster transfers? What would you do to get to the bottom of this weird limitation?

In the new UnRaid install I'm building, I was wondering of two things: 1. Should I plug the parity drive on a separate SATA controller? (My motherboard has two distinct SATA controllers) 2. Does it make a diference which SATA controller the Cache drive is attached to? Should it be attached to the same controller as the Parity drive, or to the controller that manages the individual drives? Thanks.

Can you be more specific about what you mean by " basically can't get my windows on the VM to recognise my 1060"? Does the VM boot up? What is the setup of the VM? Which BIOS and Machine type is the VM using? Do you have HyperV enabled? You should not need new drivers, as the 960 and 1060 will use the same drivers.

I'm upgrading my UnRaid box to a newer system and I've got some questions about the transfer speeds I'm getting. When I'm sending data to the UnRaid array (from my desktop), I'm saturating my 1Gbps connection with about 113MB/s transfer speeds which is nice! However when I'm retrieving data from the unRaid array (to my desktop), I'm seeing some very inconsistent speeds. The transfer starts at around 100MB/s and then quickly degrades to 40-50MB/s with dips down to 20MB/s. (see atached image) The UnRaid server is using a couple of HGST 4TB drives with a 256GB SSD cache. The UnRaid installation has default values for all the settings; clean install. On my desktop, I'm transferring to a Samsung 850 EVO 256GB SSD. (I doubt this is a bottleneck) - How do I go about diagnosing where the problem is?

I have this problem too. The web interface is not responsive. It doesn't load after about a day of server uptime. It started when I upgraded to 6.3, and is seems to persist with 6.3.1 for me.

Played with VNC as the primary display and the GPU as the secondary. On a fresh install of Win10, I see 2 display devices. Once all the VirtIO drivers are installed, I install the nVidia drivers and restart the VM. After the restart, I keep getting "Your PC ran into a problem" BSOD.

I just checked, and the OnBoard VGA was already set to primary in the BIOS. Do other settings in the mobo bios make much of a difference (aside from having all the VT-d features enabled)?

Good idea adding VNC along with the GPU. Primary graphics card is VNC, secondary is the GTX560ti GPU. This allows me to boot into the OS, but I don't see the GPU in the device manager.

Just recently decided to take the plunge and experiment with the VM functionality in UnRaid. While setting up a newVM is painless, I'm not getting anywhere on the GPU passthrough side. My server is a Asrock EP2C602 mobo with 32gigs ECC ram, and two E-2670 CPUs running unraid 6.2.4 The info screen in unraid shows HVM and IOMMU as enabled. I'm trying to pass through a GTX 560ti. I have set up the VM using the default settings for Win10. The initial setup is done using VNC, then once everything is working, I install Teamviewer and also enable RDP to get remote access to the Win10 VM. Once the VM is installed and all the VirtIO drivers are applied, I shut down the VM, and change the graphics card in UnRaid from VNC to the GTX 560Ti card, as well as set the audio card to the same GPU. Once I reboot, neither the rpd nor temviewr come up. When I attach a monitor to the GPU, I only get a black screen. I've tried various combinations of Q35 and i440fx, along with OVMF and SeaBios settings. HyperV is turned off. I've read through similar forum posts, but nothing helped. I don't know where to go from here. Any advice would be appreciated.

Interesting. I knew that each release removes hardware support, and I've cooked drivers in the past into the installation media to get cheaper hardware to work (in the 5.0, and 5.1 days) but everything seemed to work with my current server hardware system. I only installed 6.0 (with update 1) since as with most software the latest version is usually the one you want to have since it's the most mature, and feature rich. I'm just happy that 5.5 works so far.

With the release of v6.1.9 of UnRAID, I get a message that Open VM tools is not compatible with kernel 4.1.18 Does Zeron know of this?

I've recently built a new system around those cheap E5-2670 CPUs from ebay, and the plan was to combine my standalone box of UnRAID as well as the ESXi 5.1 box into one system running ESXi 6.0 For the most part ESXi 6.0 works well enough, but I've had nothing but trouble passing through a nvidia Quadro 6000 GPU (which is on vmware's approved list). Lots of PSOD (purple screen of death) crashes when the VM with the GPU would start up. Sometimes it would work, and other times it would hand the whole system. I read many forums, and discussions on psod, and tried various tweaks (both in bare metal bios as well in the vmx config file of the VM) but nothing was producing consistent results. At one point I was sure I had fixed the problem (no more crashes or hangs when the VM with the pci passthrough VM would start) and then a week later, nothing I did would start that machine anymore. I was starting to suspect that the CPUs I bought were crap, or that the ASRock ep2c603 mobo was not working properly. I reinstalled ESXi several times and updated to latest patches in an effort to have a fresh install, but no avail. Tonight in a last straw desperate attempt to try anything, I installed a trial version of ESXi 5.5. So I went back one version from 6.0 to 5.5 So far everything is working as expected. Imagine my surprise when there was no crashing, no system hangs, no psod. More testing is required, but things are looking up for a change. Who knew that ESXi 6.0 was in fact the problem.... (at least for me) Anyway, this was more of a rant for me, but if you have similar problems with ESXi 6.0, give version 5.5 a try. For me, I don't think I'm going to miss the features that version 6.0 brings as my ESXi home lab is pretty basic. oh, and yes, UnRAID is one of the VMs that runs on this system (figured I should at least state that I'm using unraid)
