not sure what you mean.. I have the card you see in the link and I have a expander board using 1 port off the card to link the the expander board if I need something else then let me know as I ordered a 16 hard drive board for future expansion later.. but if I bought the wrong board I will send it back

right now I have the SAS cable connected from Card to the 1 port on the SAS Expander that handles 6 drives but unraid cant see it.. probably its in RAID mode with my 2 port SAS 2011 I think its called Exander I had to Firmware it to TI or IT to get the raid off and the AHCH HBA mode in but for this card I not sure I tried googling the card so I working on it.. as I tried my 2 port 8i 2011 LSI card on the single port SAS Expander board and that works.. its just this card is not... and right now I don't have a monitor to the headless server at the moment so im guessing I need to flash the firmware to the TI or IT mode so they show up as normal hard drives on the expander card but I not sure what to google for this specific.. but ill keep googling.. and ok I appreciate it @Frank1940 I don't do these much its my 2nd card I just remember you having to flash etc.. but in mean time ill google more too I was hoping someone already had done this card before and knew more lol

ah well I thought it was like my 9211 lsi card sas card 2 port for 8 Sata drives.. and I had to upgrade the Firmware to remove RAID to replace it with for AHCI mode but I couldn't find for this card how to change the firmware on it.. so that this card would work on the SAS Expander backplane.. as my understanding of a SAS expander card is to connect to either each port for 4 SATA or to my current EXPANDER Backplane but I just figured I had to change the firmware to get rid of the RAID out of it and put the HBA in but ill keep googling thanks for repsonding

hi I bought and just got this card 03X3834 IBM LSI 6GB 16 PORT PCI-E SAS EXPANDER CARD 9240-8i 9261-8i 11407-1 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/143405687529 I cant get unraid to detect the drives on it... I remember I got a LSI raid card a couple years ago and had to do some fiddling to reprogram it .. but I don't remember how to do that.. and if this card is different.. or if anyone has done this card... I could use help and what files to to make it work.. please and thank you

hi I have this cahce dir installed and left the defaults... is it supposed ot load entire hard drives directories into ram? If so I find it not working.. it will do the first Folder listtins so what I mean is \\tower\ it will show those file folders if I click into one its fast but to go into anything after that is slow as it waits for the drives to boot up to see whats in the directories.. whats the proper format to load everything and how much ram you need

and here I enabled plex and watching 1 stream,.,, it sure uses 100% of the second core those figured it split it up .. but ill tinker around this netdata see whats hogging the cpu and try to fix plex as I find it buffers a lot at time and hangs so figured maybe an app is hogging more cpu … maybe ill find it in the netdata app

this was the screen shot I took of applications not sure what other is? and this is with dockers shut off but im sure the other must be the plugins I have installed but haven't found yet specific section that shows each app like taskmanager will show this file is sucking this much cpu and ram maybe this program doesn't but sure does show a lot of graphing which is cool and you can see my pinning that I thought was correct but im guessing its wrong... as I isolated 2 3 4 from unraid so it goes directly to plex and 2 vms which you don't see

my message never sent earlier I see... so just posted... so I took some screen shots but trying to figure it out … ad Idle you see my cpu is using 59% is that from the Pluggins I took a few screens but still trying to understand like softirqs and it shows system and user use the most cpu at idle 20-40%

ok thanks ill give it a try as I currently have 4 core intel 3820 cpu and I pined plex and isolations 2 3 4 and then fix common issues complains I pinned 3 cores to plex as I read and watch core 1 goes to unraid but ya I turned off all dockers vms and core one fluxates from 0 to 80% as I wanna build a new case and cpu for my unraid a 24 bay that can handle 2-6 streams to tvs in the house and not have any slow down so working on upgrade but just dealing with this as I been finding plex slow or choppy at times but ill check this app out to add thanks

is there a gui Task manager for unraid for apps running what cpu is connected to what .. so I can narrow down why the first core is running

hi I was having issues with my plex etc.. and trying to get this CPU pinning to work right but its not but I turned off all vms and doctors.. and yet CPU 0/4 is still throttling up to 76 percent.. and I read that's what unraid uses that cpu.. but why it is running high is it the plugins and dockers then? and how do I put more cpus to plex or least to know plex is using them but ya not sure why I having slowness and issues with unraid since the update and I cant figure it out and does anyone know why STOP button never works for VMS I always have to FORECE STOP for windows the STOP button never ever works to I guess do a normal shut down

hi I trying to get Lacp to work with unraid and my srw2006 switch. I set the switch to 5 ports and check LACP for each one.. so they set and when I set unraid to bonding 4 for link aggression im locked out of unraid.. it cant get a ip address just 169.. so to fix I gotta pull the usb stick ending the network.cfg and change bonding to 0 from 4 so I can re access it.. but what you gotta do to to get the link aggression to work

ah ok so there is not real way to max out the speed of the hard drives on the unraid server to connecting pcs then I was trying to get the maximum bandwith the server can put out so that say 2 computers accessing the unraid server.. would max out the hard drives so I get max speed etc.. well least try to maximize the network,.. since 10gb switchs are unrealistic price for the home user as I googled them... so I be stuck at the 1gb for several years to come till like 16 port 10gb switch comes down to the under 200 dollar range lol

hi I seen old posts off different sites but curious in 2019 which app you guys use to backup your photos like Google does on my android you click Photos and its on there site... is there a good one for android and to connect to my unraid server.. that you guys like

so this is what is setup I using 13-16 as my 4 ports out of 5 for lag to my unraid… and you said to turn off auto negitionation and ya can not get the 802.3ad(4) to work.. si that what I want working

oh ok so not worth upgrading to fibre then lol ok so I tested just got home if I check PORT and LCAP only balance-rr(0) balance-xor (2) and broadcast(3) only work the 6 doesn't work.. so whats the best setting anyways and what is just PORT checked off do.. as I thought I need this LCAP and I cant get that 802.3ad to work not sure what that one is if I just have PORT checked off then Broadcast (3) balance-xor(2) balance--rr(0) only ones to work under PORT check... maybe this swich too old to do all those other features of the other 4 options

ah ok ..ya I only need a coupe 10g ports at the moment.. or like to from my desktop to the server.... least for now.. rest be like streaming plex.. but I wanna make sure it works well.. I know the srw2016 has 2 fibre connections but I doubt its a 10gb connection but ill check out your link.. and ill try those ad setting when I get home too.. just wish I knew whats the best way to go lol. oh ok so if I dick the LACP in linksys then unraid has to be the ad(4) which is the best way to go.. I just trying to get max speed out of it.. for transferring files or streaming my plex... but ill give that a try the ad(4)…. probably should gotten like 10gb card and network switch but not cheap enough yet for home user

or maybe my srw2016 is too old to do mode 6?? it is from like 2006 or so is that why mode 0 works

so I found setting it to balance(r) (0) that way works with the conf above and 1 other setting... but the mode 6 doesnt which setting should I have etc to get the max speed out of my unraid

update after a reboot of my computer I also can not ping my unraid when its LAG ports are enabled

hi I just bought a 4 port 1gb nic as I was hoping to maximize my network traffic so I have the built in and then 4 on card.. I had it setup as active-backup but was reading posts from like 2011 to set it to mode 6 so its the balance alb I have a linksys cisco switch srw2016 under LAG I set ports 13,14,15 to to check box LAG and LACP I not using the other 2 ports yet.. ran out of network cable to reach my server at the moment... but with that settings I can my computer to ping... I truly don't know if its working... and I read on another post there is a LAG status where it showed Slow but I cant find any status on mine.. either because its not there anymore as the article was from 2011... but I also notice my xbox can no longer play Plex but my computer can..... my question is do you guys have a latest article or video on setting up this LAG to get the maximum throughput... out of my unraid server... probably should went with a 4 10gb but im not there yet... but ya any articles that is closer to date be good and pictures and is there a test where you can see your getting the max speed utilizied

well i have done rsync -avzu --stats --numeric-ids --progress -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_rsa -T -o Compression=no -x" "/mnt/user/Videos/Home Videos/" root@backupserver:"/mnt/user/Videos/Home Videos/" and the single and double qoute from another forum rsync -avzu --stats --numeric-ids --progress -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_rsa -T -o Compression=no -x" '"/mnt/user/Videos/Home Videos/"' root@backupserver:'"/mnt/user/Videos/Home Videos/"' now rysnc has no issues when i been doing rsync -avzu --stats --numeric-ids --progress -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_rsa -T -o Compression=no -x" /mnt/user/Videos root@backupserver:/mnt/user/Videos/ it will make the "Home Videos" folder but it rysncs my tv shows and movies and other crap too.. but for a specfic rysnc i wanted to backup each night etc to my 2nd backupserver that doesnt do the tv shows or movies... just photos and my home videos so doing the /videos it will back up "Home Videos" just like that... but when i do the qoutes as above then it says HOME as Videos is my SMB share for windows and then Home Videos is under the Videos so just frustrating if i known this i would been tackling this months ago.. always something and i dont even know if you can contact the persons(s) who wrote rysnc to even ask if i asking is possible... but maybe i will just have to rename it then as 1 word.. i appreciate the input

hi so I been running rsync for several months doing spaces and it worked but if its a Root folder.. but when I did a sub folder spaces it messs up so if I do rsync -avzu --stats --numeric-ids --progress -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_rsa -T -o Compression=no -x" /mnt/user/DJ\ Stuff/ root@backupserver:/mnt/user/DJ\ Stuff/ so my Root Folder is "DJ Stuff" and it copies to the backupserver "DJ Stuff" root folder fine but when I do rsync -avzu --stats --numeric-ids --progress -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_rsa -T -o Compression=no -x" /mnt/user/Videos/Home\ Videos/ root@backupserver:/mnt/user/Videos/Home\ Videos/ It Copies "Home Videos" under the Videos Root folder from the main server... but when I tell it to copy to the backup server "Videos\Home Videos" it doesn't do it... it actually does "\Videos\Home" so its not adding that space... is there a different way you need to write it when there is a specific directory that has spaces that isn't the root folder name so to summerize DJ Stuff ===> DJ Stuff (copies fine) Videos\Home Videos ====> Videos\Home Videos (does not copy fine) it does instead Videos\Home Videos =====> Videos\Home I only noticed this as I doing a specific folder... where as my other rysncs I just sync the Root Folder names
